[Official] - Milford signs with Broncos

[h=1]Anthony Milford to honour final year of Raiders contract after returning to Canberra[/h]
WHEN Virgin flight VA1210 touched down at Canberra airport at 11.40am yesterday, a massive weight was lifted off the shoulders of new Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart.

Emerging from the airport lounge 10 minutes later was none other than Anthony Milford.
His future at the Canberra Raiders had been the subject of speculation for the last two months.
Stuart and his assistant coach Matt Parish were at the airport to personally collect Milford off the flight from Brisbane - the final confirmation the Broncos had failed in their audacious bid to snare the boom youngster for 2014.
He was whisked off straight to training to begin preparations for his final season in the national capital.
"Anthony has stuck by his word and that's what we expected all along," Stuart said.
"It provides a tremendous buzz around the place for the players, our supporters and our members."
The young fullback did have a get-out clause in his contract to return home to Brisbane to be with his sick father.
Speculation increased he would take up the clause on compassionate grounds when the Broncos announced his signing from 2015 and onwards.

But Stuart and the Raiders never gave up hope.
"Both Anthony and his manager Sam Ayoub have done the honourable thing," Stuart said.
"I watched a lot of his performances last year and he's a very special young player.
"We're all delighted to have him on board."
Milford's return to the Raiders is a blow to the Canterbury Bulldogs' chances of snaring disgruntled fullback Josh Hoffman from the Broncos.
Brisbane would almost certainly have released Hoffman if Milford had triggered the escape clause in Canberra.
It's now highly unlikely they will release him.
The Broncos signed Milford for 2015 three weeks ago and tried desperately to get him on board 12 months in advance.
``Anthony is an elite talent and is a great signing for us," said coach Anthony Griffin, when the deal was done.
The Broncos' recruitment methods have attracted plenty of criticism around the NRL.
They've not only signed Ben Barba while under contract to the Bulldogs but are also trying to persuade Test captain Cameron Smith to quit Melbourne Storm.
The Daily Telegraph understands the Broncos are also still discreetly chasing Manly's and Australia's outstanding half-back Daly Cherry-Evans.

The Stuart BS machine is in full swing:

So did he have a clause that could be activated or not? Canberra said no, and that's why they wouldn't release him. They're saying here that he did, but Milford 'chose' not to activate it.

Barba & the Bulldogs chose to terminate the contract, not us.

Again, from what we hear, DCE's terms of contract have been broken. That's the grounds for him to get a release, otherwise we wouldn't be chasing him.

I find this the most amusing comment.

Do as i say, not as i do 'eh Ricky

I will go on the record as saying that I'd only ever seen it on my phone, an iPhone 3 no less.

BUT, I will conclude that it is entirely plausible that it's genuine. Like it's been pointed out, the lighting, shadow angle, shadow sharpness, everything that could prove that the photos were taken at different locations is absolutely consistent between the two people. Even the Jpeg compression marks on the two of them are identical - meaning that if they were taken at different times, they not only had the exact same field depth & zoom, but really they needed the exact same camera on the exact same settings. The 'brighter' wall to Milford's right (his left) is a result of the flash. In fact, the only thing that points to it being a fake is the fact that bricks to Milford's left are slightly creamier in colour. But it's a combination of optical illusion (because the smooth white of the whiteboard finishes behind Milford's head it makes the background starkly different on his two sides at the top) and camera lighting - look inside Stuart's opened art - same cream colour.

EDIT: I'll re-post image below so you can check my comments:

It is just me or what, but I thought the most obvious indication that it may have been photo-shopped was the shadowing/blurred lines particularly around the bottom of Milford's ears and Sticky's right side cheek/face

??

Yeah I noticed those too but thought I was just being silly haha

I'm not sure if the end of milfords left sleeve could be in that position if the shirt isn't being touched by something else... But i don't believe it's photoshopped. I think around his ears and such i just his shadow on the wall but it's hard to tell at such low res.

Both are just a result of a combination of jpeg compression and the positioning of the shadows. Sticky's lower right head (below his right ear) on the surface looks too smoothly curved to be natural, like it's used a clipping mask, but look closely and the ear shadow just co-incidentally lines up with a tuft of hair, creating the illusion.

The material sewn in at the end of the sleeves on those sort of shirts is quite rigid.

Morkel is a graphic designer. I'm a freelance graphic designer. It's not shopped!

I can't rule it out, but every single anomaly in the pic has a valid explanation.

Yeah ....I've got photoshop CS5 on my computer. I'm a freelance graphic artist too !!!

You'd be surprised how many people thing that that qualifies.
Damn, it doesn't? I was just told there were others more suitable to the position instead of being told I'm not qualified :takdir:

No. The qualified ones also have Fireworks CS6,.

K Hunt is not a winger. You have to be big, fast, able to jump and ridiculously athletic to be a good winger in 2013/2014.

K Hunt in 6 if he can shut out Milford

He'll probably end up at the Titans though methinks if he comes back to league.

well he did play wing for our 2006 grand final :P
