Origin bolters

Agree re: Dugan. He's tough, is excellent in attack, he's got size, he'd go well at rep level.

Gillett?! Jesus - what are we NSW?!

He won't be there.

Dugan for NSW - but where would he play?

No team should be thinking about too many bolters this year bar injury IMO. I don't see the real need for debuts this year when there are a handful of players who have had 2-3 games experience which will be better for the run.

I suppose BM must be picked though. DT to be blooded for experience I suppose.

I don't think Meat was suggesting Dugan for NSW this year necessarily, but give him a shot in City-Country to see what he can do at a slightly (and I mean, slightly) higher level than club.

Excellent work Mr Cox - you are now the Meat translator as well as the tkday translator! [icon_lol1.

yeah, this thread isnt for ppl that we think will get a spot, but ppl that could possibly come into consideration based on good form or injuries to other players. dugan is def one of them

Yeah I just doubt Gillett would come into consideration unless about 6 backrowers suffered serious injury :P

Dugan: well, he'd need Hayne and Gidley to get injured, and possibly even Todd Carney (I could see the NSW selectors putting him at fullback with Pearce at halfback for combination if Hayne and Gidley weren't available).

i still think carney is a shot at fullback or 6 for the blues. hayne can just as easily play on the wing and get just as involved, and carney is probably the form fullback of the comp right now

i know this isnt really on topic but my Queensland team would be
1. Slater
2. Folau
3. Tonga
4. Inglis
5. Tiquri / Boyd depending on who keeps up their form
6. Lockyer
7. Thurston but if he is injured the Cronk
8. Hannant
9. Smith
10. Civo
11. Thaiday
12. Myles
13. Harrison
14. Shillington
15. Scott
16. Taylor
17. Bolton

Have i missed anyone that should be in there with a chance????

Are NSW really gunning for Pearce at 7?!

Waow... when will they learn?

I hate it when Origin jumpers are handed out willy nilly and you have these silly stats where players have had 1-3 games or something...

It doesn't work for both sides IMO.

I felt QLD were doing that a bit when we were going bad before this but that could have been because we had no one else but even then some of the selections were just downright offensive to the QLD jumper.

Even if fit I'd leave Crocker out. He was horrible last year.

Yup, im beginning to agree. Last year was one of the worst games of footy ive ever seen from him, and he hasnt even played this year.

Kevin Kingston for the queenslanders if Smith is injured or they want a second hooker

I would have thought Nathan Friend would be next in line.

Who would you put in at halfback for NSW?
Kimmorley again? He's got one foot in the grave.
Wallace? Frankly he's not consistent enough at club level, let alone ready to be the Origin on field general.
Mortimer? LOL
Walsh from Penrith? Major bolter he'd be, and I don't think he's consistent enough, though brilliant on his day
Mullen? Too fragile.
Hornby? LOL
Gidley? LOL

Honestly, Pearce has impressed me so far this season. He's bulked up, so he's defending better. He's running the ball more. He's showing good options with ball in hand other than just get to 5 and kick.

He's no Cronk, Prince or Thurston, but he could develop into the number 1 halfback for NSW for years to come.

What about Ben Lowe for Queensland on the bench. Has proablly been the best foward at the bunnies in a pack of superstars? Regarding Kevin Knigston vs Friend i dont really know, i think what would get friend in over Kingston is his work rate and he is very aggresive so you are proabally right.

That plus he spent a fair bit of time at Melbourne playing with Slater and Inglis...fair while ago maybe, but some of their combination would still work.

Yer playing for the storm might been a very very slight advantage though that was four seasons ago wasnt it? Whats everyone think with Boyd vs Tiquri. I think 1,2,3,4 are already tied up with slater, folau, tonga and inglis but 5 would have to go to either boyd or tiquri. Somebody mentioned having boyd on the bench which could work.
