I hate it when Origin jumpers are handed out willy nilly and you have these silly stats where players have had 1-3 games or something...

It doesn't work for both sides IMO.

I felt QLD were doing that a bit when we were going bad before this but that could have been because we had no one else but even then some of the selections were just downright offensive to the QLD jumper.

Who would you put in at halfback for NSW?
Kimmorley again? He's got one foot in the grave.
Wallace? Frankly he's not consistent enough at club level, let alone ready to be the Origin on field general.
Mortimer? LOL
Walsh from Penrith? Major bolter he'd be, and I don't think he's consistent enough, though brilliant on his day
Mullen? Too fragile.
Hornby? LOL
Gidley? LOL

Honestly, Pearce has impressed me so far this season. He's bulked up, so he's defending better. He's running the ball more. He's showing good options with ball in hand other than just get to 5 and kick.

He's no Cronk, Prince or Thurston, but he could develop into the number 1 halfback for NSW for years to come.

That's the thing. I honestly don't know what is the best 6/7 option NSW have... I do think in the years to come when Pearce, Mortimer and these young ones peak --> maybe they'll get their golden run.

ATM though... it is slim pickings.

I would never put Stagg on the bench - it is the biggest waste IMO. Start him at 13 if Harrison is not fit.

On form Inglis is no certainty for Origin... you could say that for Folau too although at least he is getting tries.

Form never applies to star incumbents like Inglis. Or Lockyer. Or Slater. Or Smith. Or Hodges for that matter, even though he's actually never done anything at Origin level.

Not selecting GI would be the wrong move - Origin can also play players into form.
Furthermore GI has almost always produced something on the table at rep level.

If QLD don't pick Tuqiri purely because Boyd has "done the job" in the last 2 years then they are dead set stupid. Don't get me wrong, Boyd has done a winger's job out there, he's scored the tries needed and has been absolutely faultless. But Tuqiri's form is absolutely outstanding this year, he is scoring other tries that any other winger wouldn't and he's been acting like an extra forward out there when he comes in to take a run up the middle.

QLD can't overlook him.

Agreed. Tuqiri is killing it atm, best winger in the game right now up with morris. Boyd has been good, but not better than tuqiri

I'm also in the Tuqiri for origin camp. Boyd is very good right now, but he is playing fullback and despite the form you show in one position, it doesn't mean you will perform well in another. Tuqiri is fantastic on the wing atm and should be picked. If something was to happen to Slater, then we have a very good backup in Boyd.

I'm also jumping on the Tuqiri bandwagon. He looks to be as good, if not better, than he was when he was at the broncos all those years ago. He simply MUST be in the team. Sure, Boyd has done the job, but realistically a lot of wingers could have done the job that Boyd has done for QLD. Tuqiri brings something extra.

Ah well, if GI can grow up in NSW and be passionate enough to support and play for Queensland, then MG can be passionate enough to play for NSW. It's his choice.
