Our new halfback should be

All this doom & gloom.

We'll be fine.
Based on?

I don't think the sky is falling tomorrow but really, you have nothing to base this on. made 1 gf in 10 years, last gf win was over a decade ago, we don't have any superstars coming through the ranks.

What makes you so sure?

edit: I would take Maloney in a heartbeat but for the fact he would be 33 in 2018, doesn't sound like the "franchise player" they are after.

Because this isn't the first time we've been in this situation.

When was the last?

When Lockyer retired.

Remember how bad the next few years was? We came out the other side a much stronger club and now we don't have incompentent idiots in charge. We'll be fine.

So your version of we'll be fine is finishing 8th, finishing 12th, finishing 8th, sacking the coach and being in the midst of our longest premiership drought.

Sign me up for the good times! lol

Yeah I see you misunderstood what I said...

nah, just pointing out you have no basis for we'll be fine - i even asked you for your criteria and then underlined how it didn't go so well for us.

Our premiership window is about to slam shut . Knik looks like our best option. And how the **** are we supposed to sign this player within 2 months , there are no viable options for next year. What a fuckin mess , glad im not part of our recruitment team .

I'm guessing you missed the part where I said we recovered from that and came out the other side a much stronger club with a much stronger roster and a brighter future.

And I'm saying that's what will happen again. We will recover. We will be fine. Because we don't have idiots in charge anymore.

I'm not sure I could explain it any clearer.

If the future is brighter, why are we at this point?

reading the article ... a good plan seems to be a stop gap next season before throwing the cheque book at Cleary

Apparently there isn't much of a checkbook though. And if we were planning on that , why not for taylor or for keeping hunt ? I think we are in a situation where we need to make some big calls on the cap , like why resign glenn when we resign arrow for much less. Glenn isn't a player that will take us to a premiership.

Anyone else notice the mention of Milf's contract and being nowhere near the $1m his management are asking for.

Guessing that is the hold up for it taking so long. Management want $1m and long term contract broncs probably after ~$800k and 3yrs.

Interesting to see how it unfolds but I feel his management have caused the hold up. May end up settling for 2yrs at a lower price as a stop gap until broncos can get a gauge of how he plays on his own... similar to 1 yr deal for Oates

The major concern about all of the stop gap options listed is that they all involve Milford being our Halfback and dominant playmaker.. At this stage of his development, that's not what he's even close to being.

Yeah either of them I'd take straight away based on form this year.

Thought Keary fit the description of what we're looking for a little better.

I don't watch Knights games but would Brock Lamb be an option? If the Knights get Bird, I can see Lamb not getting a spot, what about Hodkinson. We are scraping the barrel here boys!.

We will probably go with Benji or Nik for next season
