I've had the answer for days now. It's actually really simple.

Our halfback needs to be a big name. A marquee player that we can build the side around. Someone out-of-the box, yet so perfect that when people find out, they're like "why did we never think of that?!?!?"

Between 2010 and 2015, the lowest amount of games he has played was 19 in 2015.

Last year he had his major injury and played 9 games before he was released.

Doesn't seem like he misses a great deal of footy.

If you're going to count out signing quality halves who have had one injury... then we will be left signing rookies, has-beens, never-weres, or never-going-to-bes.

I think I remember Widdop was signed up for 550k, or I might be mistaking him for someone else, but he's a bargain at that price, so they'd have to upgrade him.
