OFFICIAL Patrick Carrigan re-signs

You seriously believe they are behind all clubs? You think a player would take less money to go to a joint like the Cowboys or Tigers ahead of Redcliffe? Kidding yaself.

I think they are having an issue developing a roster because sproj has not done a potential team list for them. The broncos coaching staff would be lost without his lists

Just to explain why I think that's better than some clubs, I'll do a quick example

Cowboys

1.
2. Valentine Holmes (1million/year)
3.
4.
5.
6. Tommy Dearden (Above minimum wage)
7. Chad Townsend (600k/year)
8.
9.
10.
11. Luciano Leilua (700k/year)
12.
13. Jason Taumalolo (1million/year)
14.
15.
16.
17.

I'd happily take 0 players signed and $0 spent ahead of this trash.

The Cows have definitely been one of the clubs responsible for inflating ordinary players salaries which all teams eventually suffer from.

Holmes at least got them publicity but is worth half that amount and the Townsend ( i read 800k per year) and Leilua deals are mental. Luckily i hate the Cows so long may they continue...

I couldn't remember the Townsend deal off the top of my head and just went with what I thought was an insane amount for a player of his 'ability' If he is actually on 800k, that's hilarious.

Holmes getting them publicity early sure, since they started playing most of the publicity around Holmes is he isn't a fullback, but he is being paid too much to play on the wing.

Looking good for Patty staying (at the end):

Not looking so good for Redcliffe, they can't land anyone and as the Titans showed with Tino, all other clubs are currently going to be locking up their key players long term before Redcliffe can get to them. Redcliffe needs to sign someone big soon. It doesn't even have to be a superstar, just someone to get excited about.

Emerging middle forward Patrick Carrigan has committed to the Brisbane Broncos until the end of the 2024 season.

The 23-year-old Queenslander – who has made 46 NRL appearances since making his debut in Round 5, 2019 – was already committed to the Broncos until the end of 2022 and has extended for another two years.

An Easts Tigers junior, Carrigan has captained the Broncos 12 times and was selected in the extended Queensland squad for the victorious 2020 State Of Origin series.

Carrigan was a joint winner in 2020 of both the Paul Morgan Medal for Broncos Player Of The Year, as well as the Players’ Player Award, alongside Payne Haas. Carrigan also won the Most Consistent Player Award in 2020, having been Broncos Rookie Of The Year in 2019.

Carrigan is also working hard off the field completing a Physiotherapy Bachelor Degree at the University Of Queensland, having been School Captain of Brisbane’s Gregory Terrace College in his Senior year.

Broncos Football & Performance Director Ben Ikin said, “I’m very happy Pat chose to extend his stay at the Brisbane Broncos - he’s been in our system for a long time and is highly regarded by everyone at the club.

Carrigan is the latest in a long list of Broncos talent to re-commit to the club this year including Kotoni Staggs, Tesi Niu, Selwyn Cobbo, Brendan Piakura, TC Robati, Xavier Willison, Jordan Riki, Kobe Hetherington and Keenan Palasia – in addition to new signings for 2022 headlined by Adam Reynolds and Kurt Capewell.

As predicted by the ever reliable Peter Badel and Ben Dobbins, Pat Carrigan has re-signed.

His agent Jeff Jurotte:

“Pat has decided to stay. He is happy at the Broncos, it’s where he started his NRL career and he feels a sense of obligation to get the club back to where they belong. Pat has built a strong bond with Kotoni Staggs and Payne Haas — they have made a bit of a pact to stick together and try and win a premiership for the Broncos. There’s a lot of things in place for Pat’s future at the Broncos."

“We’re happy with the final deal the Broncos have put to us so Pat is rapt to be staying loyal to the club he loves.”

“It was a genuinely tough decision. Pat weighed up the pros and cons of joining the Dolphins. Pat met up with Wayne and he has great respect for him as a coach, but there was a bit of uncertainty as to how much longer Wayne (who turns 72 in January) would be coaching at the Dolphins."

“There was also some uncertainty about who the Dolphins are signing and what their roster will look like for their first season in 2023. Pat has been really impressed with the new management at the Broncos under Dave Donaghy and Ben Ikin."

“Pat spoke to the Broncos after life after football, he’s a very intelligent young man and knows where he wants to go beyond rugby league. Pat also has great confidence in the football program at the Broncos, so weighing everything up, it made sense for him to stay.”

ever reliable hey ... 🤔

you do realise why this thread was started, don't you ... let me give you a hint, it involved a Dobbo rumour and a new franchise.

changing your tune after it was evident, you were wrong does not make you reliable

The rumour was Pat knocked back the Broncos offer and was being pursued by the Dolphins. The next rumour was he'd met with Bennett and toured the facilities. The next rumour was the Broncos had upped their offer and he was likely to accept it, with an announcement either way coming later this week.

Which of those rumours was wrong?

I called it before those two gronks.

Can you guys knock off the constant bickering about journos/whos right or wrong/mud slinging/taking pot shots at every attempt?

It really ruins the forum and fills the threads with crap and makes me want to skip pages to avoid reading the bullshit. Im sure other people are getting sick of it.
