Apparently it’s only on hold until end of 2022 season. I wouldn’t be paying him more at all. Do his current deal and maybe talk to him end of 2023

I'm not impressed with the past 24 hours but you can't help but feel sorry for him. Being booed at Suncorp by the home crowd wearing the Broncos colours is some damn rare territory, and it can't feel good.

I'm quietly optimistic that the experience will be a circuit breaker for his mentality. Don't be surprised if we hear his request for a release has been withdrawn during the week.

When you’re earning $800k cost of living really is not an issue.

You can buy a $2M 5 bedroom property in a prestigious part of Brisbane or a $2M unit an hour from Sydney. It absolutely plays a part.

Talks are only on hold til the end of the year. Sounds like the broncos need some time to reassess where to spend Payne’s money, and Payne needs to buy a minute to restore his reputation some how. Weidler telling him “that’s an honourable reason to leave” is not the reality of the fishbowl he’s actually living in.
I also think all parties might want to see how we go finishing off the season,
