yeah definitely, big surprise for us considering how bad we've been of late.I just thought I would see who has had the most over the last five years. It's interesting.

There's also the life time value you receive for being in one club town (well 2 club now) But this is long term thinking so might as well be talking about particle physics.Sorry but my point is wether a player on $800,000, i.e. Payne Haas in this case, would consider the ”cost of living in Sydney” would prevent him from leaving the Brisbane Broncos and join the Roosters or any other Sydney club.
I am simply suggesting, in my opinion, it would not. With respect I will leave it there.

Good points, I was viewing it through another lens. I am invested in Brisbane heavily so am biased!I don’t think a 22 year old gives much a shit about cost of living.
A mortgage might be more expensive but the resale will likely be favourable. JWH just made like $2m off of a town house over 4 years.
If he goes to the roosters I have no doubt, all conspiratorial thinking aside, he will make far more money throughout the course of his life then he will at the broncos. The Cheese lifted the lid on that already.
This argument reminds of when everyone was ripping into me for saying Brisbane isn’t more appealing to young rich men than Sydney when the Hynes rumours were going around, only for him to come out and explicitly say it was because he wanted live in the shire.
Yeah Brisbane appeals to 2 player demographics. Those that grew up in rural Queensland and so it feels exciting compared to wherever they grew up like Oatsey and Gillo. Or older fellas like Reynolds who are looking to settle down. Oh and kiwis for some reason.Good points, I was viewing it through another lens. I am invested in Brisbane heavily so am biased!
Brisbane is boring, not Canberra level boring but definitely not as exciting as Sydney or Melbourne for a younger person.
The Broncos wanted Haas but Haas doesn't have to choose to be there. He has suitors. The Broncos could have played ultra hard ball but in the end, a pyrrhic victory. I'd say they bumped their offer slightly and Haas could look like he had a win. Mind you, I could easily be wrong and it might be that Haas has learned he could be losing out financially if he decided to walk out. What makes you think that? And why would we? We hold all the cards here. I'll be bitterly disappointed if we have.
Haas is quoted yesterday as saying "I want the fans to know that they will get nothing but my best every time I pull on a Broncos jersey."
Well this was never really an issue for me. I know the guy loves playing footy and when he's on the field he wants to assert himself. That's great and is expected of all players who pull on our jersey.
It's the off-field shit that he needs to address right now.
I need to hear Haas say - I made a huge mistake and although it may have been my management team's stupidity, the bucks stops with me.
I need to hear Haas say - the way I treated the club that has looked after me all these years was nothing short of disgraceful and I'm truly sorry for my actions.
I need to hear Haas say - the club has went above and beyond in their support for me and I need to ensure my management team are aware of this during future negotiations.
I need to hear Haas say - the club upgraded my pay without any strings attached. They could have asked me to further extend my contract but never, I rate this as a huge show of faith from the club.
I need Haas to say - the booing from the loyal fan base really helped open my eyes to what the term loyalty is all about. I hope in the future to repay the club and the fanbase as without their support I'd be nothing. NO PLAYER IS BIGGER THAN THE MIGHTY BRISBANE BRONCOS TEAM. I hope my team mates forgive me for thinking that. I will never forget that line.
I would love to hear him say - my management team are severely lacking in communication skills and I am in the process of sounding out a new management team that act in a more professional and discreet fashion. Simply asking for a release was an obvious ploy to cut corners and I cannot abide this slip-shod, second rate behaviour.
I agree but only because he is a peanutSorry but my point is wether a player on $800,000, i.e. Payne Haas in this case, would consider the ”cost of living in Sydney” would prevent him from leaving the Brisbane Broncos and join the Roosters or any other Sydney club.

Mmmm, I don't think getting him in front of a camera would achieve anything. Fans forget, very very quickly. ALL Haas has to do is bust the line with his first few hit ups, run for 200+ and be on a winning team and that will be that....generally speaking. The fans will move on to the next story. Sure, a few die-hards will try to keep remembering why they're angry but, you know. Goldfish. The fans are still going to be pissed when he rocks up against Canberra in a couple weeks and above all else the club will need to make sure his presence on the field is palatable to the fans.
I'm not sure how they go about doing that though.
It's all well and good to say he's going to honour his existing contract (he really had no choice), but how can you have a guy there for the next 2yrs if the fans hate him.
Serious damage control is required by Haas' deadshit management for bringing this onto him, but also the broncos management to be able to sell it back to the fans.
The only thing he can do now... and what the club probably need to organise as soon as possible (origin doesn't help) is get him in front of a camera to show his intent of recommitting... but it's not going to be as easy as that, because who will believe him.
Or you can play for the Roosters and get """investment advice""" and somehow come out well on top 15-20 minutes from Sydney. You can buy a $2M 5 bedroom property in a prestigious part of Brisbane or a $2M unit an hour from Sydney. It absolutely plays a part.
Mmmm, I know you're close but closed doors and all that. Money greases axles and we don't always know but you're probably right and as a betting man I'd go with your call. Still, I'm a sceptic on that.Nope
Had any wins lately big fella?as a betting man I'd go with your call.
Yes but other people doing well is generally not well received!Had any wins lately big fella?
The buck stops with him. He would give instruction or final approval before any action.I know his management are being blamed but looking back is there just a pattern here, Titans and asked for a release- Warriors for a year, back to the Coast and Broncos- asks for a release.
Disputes with his former manager too.
I don't know too many players that have been to three clubs before they sign an NRL deal.
I just thought of it yesterday.

His family?I think you missed the point.
