NEWS Payne Haas retracts immediate release from Broncos then

If any of you needed yet another example of why you should top taking journos salary cap gossip as factual, all you have to do is watch Riccio on 360 on tonight’s episode

Riccio in May 2022 “Haas will be on $850,000 next year which would make him the highest paid Bronco at the club”

Riccio in March 2022 on the same show “Lot of pressure on Reynolds to perform with his $1.2 million salary”

TLDR

$850,000>$1,200,000

The other peach about delaying talks till the end of the year, Nov 1 players open up for 2024 discussions. If Payne is sold to a club and we poach one of their players for 2024, early release of both players could be part of the arrangement.

If news is true about this my guess would be someone in origin camp has told him to end this while origin is on. Freddy and Brandy have both said they don't want players talking contracts while in camp.

This can't just be swept under the rug and pretend it never happened, unless Payne comes out apologizes to the fans, sponsors etc and takes an extension on unders while ditching his cult of managers or wins us a premiership on his own I don't think many fans will forgive him.

Throwing an intercept for Cobbo to score the winning try for QLD next Wednesday would go among way towards forgiveness……..

They use the circle style of management always twirling twirling twirling there way to better contracts

How nice of him. Agreeing to stick the contract he signed and play for the club he is contracted to play for.

I'll never back the bloke again tbh. It's a disgrace he has done this shit to our club after the last few years.
This sums it up nicely.

Literally the only thing Haas can do to redeem himself in my eyes is fire his dickhead manager.
He could have the best season of his life and i will still dislike the wanker for pulling this shit on our first decent run of the past 3 years.
To potentially sabotage the momentum of the Broncos on the back of the clubs worst seasons in its history is unforgivable.
If he sacks his manager, and silences any and all talk with Mundine and SBW ( he can still be mates with them, just leave them the **** out of the Broncos ) then "MAYBE" i wont boo him every time he touches the ball.

Dickhead of a bloke.

You can buy a $2M 5 bedroom property in a prestigious part of Brisbane or a $2M unit an hour from Sydney. It absolutely plays a part.
Yes I won't disagree that the property market and indeed the cost of living in Sydney is more than in Brisbane. But the point I'm suggesting is, that if a player in Brisbane, whose earnings were $800,000 a year, was considering playing for a Sydney club I.e Roosters, he may not factor that in when choosing wether or not to do so.

Cost of living to me, is putting fuel in a car and food on the table,
Not buying a Ferrari.

I agree I love the Guru and fucking love Kempy. Bloke in a Bar is in the same precinct that I work in and have run into him many times and he is a genuinely lovely guy.

Whaaa ?
Started out I was interested in their analysis but ,,,
When they started talking about how fck able some blokes were I quickly lost interest .

“Cost of living” includes food, shelter, utilities. The point has always been that living in Brisbane gets you an extra 0 in your bank balance because houses/rent are half the price. (Just ask Reyno)

But it’s all a moot point because if he does end up at the chooks he will have those extra 0’s in small unmarked notes in a brown paper bag.

I actually liked what Crawley suggested. “If a player goes to another club then the entire 1 million needs to be on the salary cap….none of this last minute signing for $700K”
Sadly everyone else ignored him, cos it’s a fantastic point.

I don't know why we would be renegotiating anything at this point. I would pull any extension on the grounds that he has publicly said he doesn't want a longer deal. I would pull any offer of a pay rise since he's also publicly said it's not about the money. Tell him we're already top 4 and finals bound so we're ahead of his schedule so he has no right to ask for anything else.

He is under contract until the end of 2024. No-one can put a deal to him legally before 1 November next year. I don't know how DD and Ikin manage this in the meantime - because he has got to go if he starts derailing our season, and let's be honest at this point we would all prefer to see the back of him. But he also can't be allowed to get what he wants. I'm sure smarter people than me can come up with ways to get the best out of this situation.

I do hope the Broncos are on the blower to the NRL asking them to step in if we do give him a release, so he has to sit out until his contract would have been finished. Or at the very least he cannot sign anywhere else under more favourable conditions than the Broncos were offering. It might be petty but I'd also like to see him not allowed to play against the Broncos until 2025 either.

Got 4 words for you Payne .
Flegs , Jensen , Patty , Palasia .
Broncos have played and won with out Haas . Why does he think he is worth more money ? He has appeal among Muslims ?? LOL

Haas is an extraordinary player but he's still a prop and should be paid as so, especially given he has no game breaking skills. Once this year is up I would offer him no increase on his current contract and offer him only a 2 year contract on the next with reduced pay to stay.

Where does this absolute myth come from that the Roosters are stacked with stars? It's out of date bullshit.

QLD Origin team: 4 Broncos, 1 Rooster
NSW Origin team: 2 Broncos, 3 Roosters (and 1 is a reserve)

So that's 6 Broncos in Origin, 4 Roosters.

Even Penrith only has 6 players in Origin. All for NSW.

Origin reps since 2018.

Brisbane 14
Melbourne 12
Penrith 11
Cowboys 10
Souths 10
Easts 9
Gold Coast 7
Newcastle 7
Eels 7
Dragons 7
Raiders 4
Cronulla 4
Manly 3
Tigers 3
Bulldogs 2
