OFFICIAL Payne Haas to depart Broncos at the end of 2026

Been 2 days since this dropped and I'm still not understanding it. Walker is 37 next year and there's no recognised halves in their team. Clubs don't go deep into finals without good halves.

Walker is also playing on one leg with the calf issues that have been plaguing him.

I think there is something there with Humphries but he's a long long way off. Sullivan isn't an NRL standard half. I rate Jye, but he's still green and learning the game. Mitchell is always ****ing injured.

By the time they're even close to being in a position of being a contender, Haas's deal would have already expired and he would likely be on his way to R360.

I'm more worried / concerned about him agitating for an early release this year and creating a distraction which threatens to de-rail this season (which is our best chance for another premiership in the near future) than him leaving next season.
The only way a release gets granted is if broncos are down the ladder.

We're a premiership favourite and he's won our player of the year 6 times.

There's no argument that can be put forward that would warrant us letting him go... other than Sydney media go brrr

Kent is sharp thinker on a lot of broader rugby league issues and calling the NRL & clubs to account on things .. but he’s nowhere near as sharp when it comes to more narrow football discussion and what players are thinking / feeling etc..
I don’t think he’s very tuned in to the way modern day footballers tick.. that’s become apparent to me over the last year or so since he’s had his daily platform to speak about everything NRL related..

I mean the glaring example is 2021 when he said Penrith were ‘done’ after they lost in week one of the finals to Souths..
Kent's number 1 agenda is Sydney and NSWRL.

Anything outside that means nothing to him, but if you come after Sydney or NSWRL then he has an agenda.

Broncos were the first team from qld into NSWRL and then they actually dominated his comp and won premiership ... bastards!!

Broncos' owners then tried to destroy NSWRL with Super League.

He's just a bitter Sydney dinosaur and the majority of the NRL fan base happens to be from Sydney so they enjoy him talking their area up.

Don't worry Trelly Mit will do it... from centre I guess 🤔🤔

If Latrell moves to centre and Cody retires theyre heading into 2027 with a spine of

1. Gray
6. Wighton (I guess)
7. Humphries
9. BSmith and Mamouzelos

I don't think Haas will push for a release.

He'll honor his current deal at the club and focus on getting that second premiership. What happened in '22 was his management jumping the gun without his say so. He wasn't the one pushing for that release.

Give him the release, but he can't play for another club.

With all the wild speculation and utter garbage from the talking fcukheads, I can't help but hope MM gets so fired up that he decides to silence all these morons by leading us to back-to-back premierships and setting us up for a three-peat next season.

MM mentioned multiple times during the season last year that he's aiming for us to be premiership contenders in 2026 and beyond. Being the premiers in his 1st season here should have given him plenty of confidence to plan things even better this season and next.

To his credit, he and DD planned and executed things very well by signing Adam's replacement a year in advance. With the R360 rumors, it seems like they've accepted that Haas might end up there and have some backup plans ready if he decides to explore it. Regardless, MM and DD have a whole year to strategize about our prop signings, rotation, and retention. Like majority of things they’ve done since last year particularly, I’m positive that they will make sure that they will nail the outcome.

As a bonus, once the team is back in Brisbane, it would be awesome if MM could gather all the middles for a heart-to-heart honest chat. The goal should be to fire them up, boost their confidence and encourage them to play with mongrel. That way, we won't have to rely so much on Haas's efforts and can see how we perform without him. Halfway through the season, even a one-eyed Freddie could see clearly that Haas is simply a luxury and a surplus to our needs. And that to me is MM shitting all over these talking fcukheads.

By the time they have their spine sorted Payne will be long gone lol. The chat around them being contenders simply with Haas are delusional.

I am not upset he is leaving, I am pissed that they waited until Tino signed with the Tits before announcing it.

Not that I want Tino here, but waiting until all players are locked up in contracts.

Yeah, but moves had to happen at Souths first too, so it is what it is. It's not a situation like others (Looking at you Khunt) where they bullshitted and dragged their feet, waited for the talent to leave the market, then announce he was leaving.

Kinda our own fault. If he hadn't signed by November, we should have already been looking for replacements.

Please don't try & make me see things in a rationale manner. 😆

Let me rage over his scummy 'friends'
