ben hunt isn't going to be any use in a prelim final.. better to play mccollough, who at least can kick the ball.. sure you won't get tries out of him, but we can't do much else. Lockyer will have to play out of his skin

Ben Hunt's kicking game is ten times better than McCullough's.

in the toyota cup.. sure, in a prelim final against melbourne? He'll fold under the pressure.. melbourne will target him etc.

Perhaps, but McCullough's kicking game is hardly something write home about.

This is an absolute no brainier.

It HAS to be Ben Hunt. Hunt has had a few games this year and he's been very good.

Fact is, all we need is someone next to Lockyer who can do what Wallace does. No option will be as good as Wallace but he doesn't necessarily have to be - Just needs to take the pressure off Lockyer and kick well. Ben Hunt does that, and he will do that. Any other option is absolutely silly.

Let's go through the options:

K Hunt - He's been awesome at fullback, he's safe there, he does everything right there. His work up the middle of the field has also been outstanding. Can't move him.

McCullough - You CANNOT change a hooker after 6 straight wins. You just can't. He's got that understanding with his forwards now, and he's got that understanding with Lockyer from the ruck - You cannot change your number 9.

Taylor - Lol. Please. Anyone who suggests this is clearly taking the piss.

It's a no Brainer. Ben Hunt is the only option.

Agree completely with this post.

Although, Taylor at halfback would be nice to see for the awesome factor.

I think the best way to handle this is to disrupt the team as little as possible, so IMO the only option is Ben Hunt. McCullough has to stay put, as does K Hunt. I'd rather a rookie in the halves with Locky than at hooker or fullback.

No it isn't, but hes been there all year, he just has to pass the ball to Locky and put the occasional kick in

lets hope its similar to nathan friend's injury.. he was able to back up when they played us

was thinking to just start Glenn in the run on and still have Mc at dummy half. So we basically have 1 extra forward on, with Locky playing first receiver.

But the more i think of it Ben Hunt could be half. all he has to do is pass when told, and kick when needed. he doesnt have to play out of his skin and make plays.

Ben Hunt is still a rookie and all but he has something we'll REALLY need against Melbourne: a good kicking game. This will be pretty much the deciding factor IMO. We'll need to use all of our kicking option and to NOT give Slater easy kick returns.

Totally agree Rocky.

It'll be a baptism of fire but if Wallace is out then we need a halfback. Robbing Peter to pay Paul is not the way to go in the finals.

of course i meant BEN hunt. i just don't like the idea of moving a really awesome hooker to halfback. i'd rather locky play the halfback role and alex glenn 5/8 if they don't bring hunt in.

my first choice would still be hunt (ben).

We need to make as LITTLE changes as possible - this 17 out there tonight has BARELY changed a bit for the past 7 weeks FFS!

Wallace out, Ben Hunt in. Easy.

couldn't agree more icon_thumbs_u

Is Te'o a hope at all? If he is right he could come back as the bench backrower and put Glenn in the halves. I'd be confident enough in his all-round ability as long as Lockyer and McCullough work out the kicking game between themselves. Ben Hunt obviously has a future at the club but I think this is too big an occasion for him at this stage.

Fingers crossed though that Wallace will be OK.

good point jeba and i think that's definitely an option if te'o is fit

hell if we can win a premiership with perry as 1/2, we can win with glenn filling in.

Hmm yeah except Lockyer isn't the same player he was in 2006..

Are you saying Glenn to 5/8 or Halfback?
IMO Locky should stay at 6 and we just need someone with a semi-decent ability to play halfback, nothing special but Hunt has shown he has a good kicking game which is Vital against the Storm.

Don't swap any of the players around, just put Ben Hunt in. Everyone's playing their positions well, so there shouldn't be any changes. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Ben Hunt won't play in such a big game, I really think DT is the answer with Locky at first receiver and Hunt chiming in every know and then, and Macca the alternate kicker at dummy half ala Cam Smith. This will also enable us to bash Melbourne with 7 forwards all night. Hopefully T'eo is also back.

TC at 5/8? He would do all the defense for Lockyer and he's played there before, T'eo on bench to take his spot. That would be a good way to go about it.
