Peter Wallace Injury

Yeah as Rocky said it has to be Ben Hunt. I'd be confident with him, a lot more confident than what I'd be with a forward in the halves.

The only other potential option would be..

Hunt to halfback, Hodges to fullback, Glenn into the centres and either Te'o or McGuire on the bench. But that's way too much shuffling around before such a big game.

The obvious answer is Ben Hunt.

Why the **** would you put a forward into the halfback roll? It disrupts the entire team. Now that's dead set laughable.

Ben Hunt without a doubt.

It will impact the U20's in a big way but he is definitely the best option.

May not see as much of the inside ball pet play the wallace, mcullough & Khunt use though?

Hmmm... fingers crossed for wallace.

Cooper Cronk may be seeing his younger double on sat night!!

McCullough - You CANNOT change a hooker after 6 straight wins. You just can't. He's got that understanding with his forwards now, and he's got that understanding with Lockyer from the ruck - You cannot change your number 9.
.

Simple as THAT!

Moving McCullough = the death of us. I'm certain on it.

B Hunt is unfortunately/fortunately (depends the way you see it) the only option. Personally, I would like someone with a bit more experience but what can you do? His the best man for the job.

For what it's worth...I favour Ben Hunt to replace Wallace and a slight variation on the game plan....all kicks to either touch or the dead ball line and remove the opportunities Slater provides on kick returns. The second thing I'd have my gorillas do is single out Inglis. Run the first big guy at him, wait until he's set after the tackle and then run straight at him again and again...say for the first 30 minutes. Inglis to be top tackler by a distance. No matter how long it took I'd ask my big men to wait each time until Inglis was upright and set and then keep a line of forwards running at him.

Inglis is sore at the moment even with the 2 week break, he's got some sort of longterm injury. I've watched him closely for the last few months. Hurt him and we'll be a long way down the track towards the GF....like I wrote though..it's just a plan I'd put in place early. I know doing this would reduce the workload on others and they'd be fresher for it but Inglis must be made to feel the heat for us to win it.....that last second try last year still makes me puke.

Haven't read all the comments but Locky will probably move to the 7 and Hunt to the 6. Just going but Locky was saying but then it was only probably about 30 mins after the game.

have we got any other options from the qld cup i wonder?

Only other option is to bring in Marsh from the Comets. It's only been 2 weeks since he played.

I agree with Rocky and others.

As we don't have a perfect replacement in squad for this situation, opinion will always be split. But i'm completely over shifting players around to be a stop-gap half or 5/8 for us - Thaiday, Stagg, TC, McCullough, K, Marsh, Gorrell, etc. It just doesn't work IMO. Yes, playing an inexperienced No. 7 is very much a gamble in a preliminary final, but so are the stop-gap options.

Therefore, i'd rather take a punt on someone like Ben Hunt and leave the rest of the team settled, rather than chop and change the rest line-up to accommodate someone who's not a halfback's arse crack that may end up stifling our options in attack.

This is an absolute no brainier.

It HAS to be Ben Hunt. Hunt has had a few games this year and he's been very good.

Fact is, all we need is someone next to Lockyer who can do what Wallace does. No option will be as good as Wallace but he doesn't necessarily have to be - Just needs to take the pressure off Lockyer and kick well. Ben Hunt does that, and he will do that. Any other option is absolutely silly.

Let's go through the options:

K Hunt - He's been awesome at fullback, he's safe there, he does everything right there. His work up the middle of the field has also been outstanding. Can't move him.

McCullough - You CANNOT change a hooker after 6 straight wins. You just can't. He's got that understanding with his forwards now, and he's got that understanding with Lockyer from the ruck - You cannot change your number 9.

Taylor - Lol. Please. Anyone who suggests this is clearly taking the piss.

It's a no Brainer. Ben Hunt is the only option.

Exactly my thoughts. Some people are saying the team should be changed as little a possible... then suggesting something like playing DT at halfback?!?! lolz!

It's Bhunt's time to shine.

Gus has just laid it out perfectly on TFS/Sunday Roast IMO *gasp*. There is no other option than B. Hunt. It's not a perfect option, but its our best.

Brisbane halfback Peter Wallace's season is over after X-rays confirmed his left ankle is broken.

A devastated Wallace told AAP on Sunday he was not sure what the Broncos would do to replace him for next Saturday night's preliminary final clash with Melbourne, with the winner advancing to the grand final.

"It's broken," Wallace told AAP, his voice wracked with emotion.

"I knew it wasn't good, I heard a crack.

IMO, that is a massive blow for us.

It comes down to this IMO, if PJ Marsh is fit and is able to play, he offers an experienced head who has played half back, but not a natural half back and not someone who has been playing in that position versus Ben Hunt, a natural half back, limited experience and a risk of him being targetted, of him cracking under the presssure. We don't lose that much with Marsh's defence, and he has a reasonable kicking game. Choose your option.

Yep once again the great man speaks the truth. You cannot manufacture a half - you need a half, so a young inexperienced half is going to be a better option than an experienced FB/Lock/Centre/Whatever playing out of position. Ben Hunt is the only option IMO.

I had think about it overnight and now agree with those who say bring in Ben Hunt. Don't forget he had a full season playing with McCullough last year so they would know each other's game well.

Be interesting to see what happens, we don't so much need the extra kicking option with Hunt, Locky and McCullough.

Your options are to either play a backrower ala the done thing in the early 2000s.. which would bring Glenn into the frame. Or one of Gorrell, Marsh and BHunt.

I'd probably lean towards Marsh in that you know what youre going to get. He talked the talk about not getting a fair go, give him the chance to walk the walk.
