Petero's Coming Back!

If anything, Civo's influence will be a HUGE help for those props who came in at a time where Clinton, Kenny, Sims and Anderson were our best players.

EDIT: Agreed gUt. Civo is one of the best props to have ever played the game. He's surpassed Webcke in my books.

Worst recruiting/retention decision made in the history of the Broncos, maybe the history of the NRL, was letting Petero go. Welcome home 60c.

If I may play Devil's Advocate for a moment.

I wonder if this decision would've come a year earlier if Henjak wasn't still meant to be coaching this year?

You might be onto something Coxy, he was in talks with us until he quickly put pen to paper with Penrith.

Hannant and Civo...wow.

Brilliant!

As has been said, he'll teach our young forward so much but in particular I reckon Dave Hala will come along in leaps & bounds when Petero takes hime unders his wing

I agree in a way, but I think we offered him a pretty good deal. From memory it was $300k a season plus a guaranteed job after retirement. I think Petero just wanted a bigger pay day (which I have no problem with by the way, I'd probably do the same in his situation). Considering we thought that Karmichael was our biggest priority it was probably all we could afford. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I don't think anyone was disagreeing with that at the time.

I suppose this way he has got his big pay-day, and now has pretty much sealed himself a job at the Broncos after retirement anyway you would think. Well played Petero!

DOES HE WANT TO COME BACK THIS WEEK AND VERSE THE SHARKS?

If McGuire or Hala sign elsewhere i will be pissed.

I appreciate what you're saying but the people that run the club are paid to get things like this right. From memory Petero was promised certain things that the club reneged on. Maybe it's to do with this apparent philosophy of Bennett's to never pay a prop more than 300k, or maybe that's bull**** (I dunno).

I remember reading Cullen being quoted at the time saying that Petero was too old to be talking about long term deals and that Joel Clinton was about to hit his career peak. To me this is the essence of the mistake that the Broncos club made, not the fact that we had to find coin for the Traitor in a Tanktop.

YESSSSSSSSSS!!! So glad he gets to finish in the maroon & gold.

I just hope he doesn't suddenly 'lose it' with age over the off-season like many of the Titans' older players have this year.

And hope we don't lose any young forwards we otherwise wanted to keep!

Agree with that as well mate. He was promised the big packet yes, but maybe he thought that packet would be bigger than it actually was. Maybe the Broncos thought that his career wouldn't last as long as it has and that Clinton would provide more in the long term. Turned out to be a massive **** storm unfortuantely, but I am just glad he is back to finish his career at the Broncos and help this young team develop even further.

OMG IM SUPPPEERRRRR EXCCITTTEEDDD.
IF only we had him this year :(

Petero and Hannant is an awesome front row, hopefully he retires from rep footy as well.

Having him around post-locky is going to be SOOOOOO valuable.

YESSS!! :D Still one of the best props in the game.

None of our young props have shown much to cement a spot in the team anyway. He's not holding anyone back, in fact he's doing the opposite by showing the young ones how it's done.
+1.
That's like saying Lockyer is holding back one of the young guns this year.
