Petero's Coming Back!

a teams captain should be an 80 minute player. what good is a captain who sits on the bench for 40+ minutes of a game like thaiday/civoniceva sometimes do?

Gordon Tallis??????? Epic leader in my eyes.

Problem though Beads, Gordie's best leadership came from the pre captain years(injuries didn't help though).

I don't think Thaiday has played less than 60 minutes in awhile.

Thank god that muppet is gone eh?

Paul White is so much better, add to that Anthony Griffin.
Nowhere near as much media BS this year with those 2 leading the place.

I'm stoked that he is coming back to where he belongs ... i also believe that the young forwards at the club should realise that he will only be playing for a further year and take it as an opportunity to learn of the best. rather than sign elsewhere because they have a lesser chance ate getting a spot in the team. if they stick aroud they will be better players having played and trained with Civo

At the same time however, these young blokes have worked their arses of this year to have our team in the Top4. Their reward for that? Getting replaced by an old guy and getting thrown back to QLD Cup..

Can't blame them if they are a little upset.

The only young prop we have that has made any real impact this season has been Hala IMO. Even then, it's not like he's been consistently doing it.

This move can only benefit our young props. In fact, they should be grateful for the chance to work with Petero.

Personally I'd say McGuire has done more than Hala..

Hala atm falls into the same group as Gagai and Baptise.. So far mainly hype. (Personal opinion naturally)

Yeah but lets be honest McGuire gives you a raging hard on...

If this was any other club bringing an old player back for 1yr the whole forum would be laughing at them and placing bets on which young Prop leaves first.

You are 100% correct although Petro is a caliber above 99% of props in the game.

Not really, Harvey Howard in his last season of NRL came to the Broncos in 2000 and played plenty of first grade games for the club at a time the Broncos had plenty of great young props coming up through the ranks, how many young props careers at the time were set back because of his appearance and left as a result? This is an opportunity for young props like McGuire and Hala who normally don't start hitting their real potential until their mid 20's to learn from one of the best props the game has seen, if anything its to their benefit, it certainly didn't hurt Webckes career having older props like Lazo and Gee around to learn from.

If any other club was signing Petero, I'd be asking why we weren't.

Exactly Ning, this isn't just an "old prop", this is Petero we're speaking about, arguably the best prop in the game.
