NEWS Phil Gould goes one-on-one with the Broncos CEO, Paul White

HahaHaha what crap. You just can't help it.

it’s not crap. It’s now accepted that he’ll make the move back, the only thing stopping it is mr ‘he’s a fullback’ from not swallowing his pride and admitting he was wrong.

If he does move him back to 6 I will fully commend him and finally but a mark in the pro’s column.

Is it any wonder there’s a dearth of leadership at the club when the ceo can’t even handle an interview by himself?

Most interesting part for me is Lockyer saying Milford to fullback won't continue and thank **** for that.

Lockyer said far more than White
- Our spine is a long way from the top 4 teams
- Dearden/Paix coming through, Paix is seen as a hooker
Quote "Milford went to fullback this year but we don't know if he's capable of playing at that elite level at fullback so he's going to come back into the equation in the halves.

**** me that sounds familiar, who's said that before?

Arrogance is something you know a bit about, I'll give you that.
I'm sure that AS didn't just wake up one day and decide to put Milf at fb.
Maybe it had something to do with Boyd shitting the bed, but ok, let's go with Seibold making the decision out of sheer arrogance.

Given he's the CEO and his role is primarily related to business functions I'm surprised they weren't pressing him more on what the Broncos actually anticipate doing in that space over the next 5-10 years and what that revenue might be able to do for the club both currently and into the future to improve on field performance.

The options are pretty broad, but immediately I could point to developing a program or school for developing elite playmakers.

It wouldn't necessarily have to be just Halves and 5/8's either, I'd be open to including any spine players who we identify as having genuine play making talent and potential. Get them signed up and into a Coaching and mentoring environment where we can develop their abilities and then have the first opportunities to get these guys into NRL level.

Money should be really no issue. It's not like we don't have the resources for something like this. The QRL or Government may even be prepared to kick in if it was based in Queensland to develop kids from across the State. This is an opportunity going absolutely begging in my eyes.

Oh dex, I didn't say he is arrogant, I said it would be arrogance to not swallow his pride and move him back. But nice thinly veiled insult at me.

Does Milf’s contract finish next year? If so, watch him step up until he gets a new huge deal.

How exactly was it thinly veiled?

Don't know about any of you but I have to say I was a bit letdown when ch9 news last night said 'after the break find out about a new signing for the Broncos'. I actually sat and waited through the ad-break just to learn to was Paul White re-signing for a year. Yeh I got sucked in, but shit like that does ch9 no favours in the long run.

Bottom line though I was pissed that we still have not managed to sign a single player yet.

To be fair the season hasn’t even finished yet and most of the players are on Mad Monday and holidays...

I imagine we’ll see the traditional post-season movement over the next few weeks leading up to Nov 1.

The question nobody has asked yet is why are the directors making decisions about the players positions? Isn’t that the coaches job?

It seems another example of how the board is meddling with the coaches job.
This is along the lines of one of the questions I would've liked asked... but more so just a general question of how does the Broncos organisation run (easy question for Paul to spruik success of the business),
- where does the football department stand within it (how much importance, how much of the revenue is put towards the football dept, etc.)
- how much responsibility does Paul White have in the decision making for the football dept ie. Does Paul generally accept the recommendations / proposals from the football dept or does he make recommendations back to Seibold.

Would also like to know who Seibold reports to ie. CEO, directly to the board or is there another above him in the football dept

I'd imagine Seibold answers to Paul White (rather than directly to the board) and I'd imagine Paul would distance himself from decision making within the football department indicating that Seibold runs the show over there and Paul only gets involved when needed (making requests to the board, etc.).

I'd then want to know whether this is the same structure as last year and when Bennett was involved or has the process changed over the years.

The reasoning for that line of questioning would clear up who is the decision maker (now and under previous coaching) and also is it typical for that kind of arrangement to be given to a football dept (the same process is adopted for Bennett a 30yr coach and also a rookie coach).

Likely Paul would distance himself from it and state that he doesn't micro manage the football operations because that's why they pay the coach, but you could also push it onto his involvement in the retention and recruitment process... and who has the power in those decisions.

Answers to all of those can be used by the media for years to come to put pressure back on who the head honcho is within the Broncos.

Instead the interview was regurgitation of previous statements from the Broncos and vague confirmation that we will go into the market (apparently with no money) and cliche answers to specific individual targets that are currently the flavour of the month.

Great post. Shoot them an email with those questions. I would love to know the answers.

Even if he does become the fittest he’s ever been he’ll be 6. The only thing preventing that would be arrogance on seibolds behalf. I’m hoping he takes his medicine and moves him back.

‘Paul white goes one on one’... has his hand held by Darren Lockyer. Seriously.

this post is the height of arrogance

Allow me to rephrase for you.....

"Here is my opinion, if the coach thinks different, I'm still right and he is arrogantly (and stubbornly) refusing to acknowledge he is wrong"

Because apparently in your eyes it is impossible that the difference of opinion might be rooted in the possibility that YOU are wrong and Siebs is right

Just wow

Well evidently, I am right. He was ordinary there and our best ever fullback and 6 is saying he should and will play 6.

Seibold said he is our best option at fullback. It was never about Milf it was always about Boyd. I don't know how the story has become about Milf. Yes he can play fullback, i actually think he could be elite back there. Is it worth keeping him there to see, probably not. Is putting him back to 6 a backflip, no because it was never said that Milf is our fullback for good it was said he is our current best option as in for 2019. It will come down to recruiting or one of our other players getting an offseason back there. Isaako was not in the form or headspace for the move this year.

So lets stop pretending that Milf was moved for any other reason than Boyds poor form. Its disingenuous and petty.

I take it you didn't see the segment?

Gould interviewed White at Red Hill in a pre-taped segment, after the segment was over they cut back to the panel where Gould elaborated on the interview and Lockyer was asked some questions.
