Players that never reached their potential

Ewan Mcgrady

Look, to be honest, I never actually saw him play. AND, I never actually knew he ever played league. Would have thought soccer would be more his thing growing up.

Anyways, he may not have reached very great heights in his playing career, but he has carved out a pretty good name for heself in the acting game. I still love the adventure series he did with Charlie Boorman.

Ha Ha Ha! Classic!

Daniel Mortimer anyone? Stuck playing a back-up hooker role. Yes, he does have a premiership to his name, but he did start his career in a blaze of glory at the Eels in the halves.

His first year was one of the most overrated in NRL history. He wasn't playing as a half, just a support player and there was no structure in the Eels side that year.

If it wasn't for his name, no one would even remotely care.

Mark Gasnier for overrated. It is amazing how the commentators would get so excited about his shimmy, shimmy go straight move which is all he ever did.

Check it out on the inter web. Rothmans medalist from the nineties. That was before the acting.loved him in Star Wars.

Would Yow Yeh count? I don't think he quite reached his.

Absolutely, tbh I think he had the potential to be up there with the best wingers the Broncos have produced, he already showed he had what it takes at all 3 levels of the game and even so I still felt he had it in him to be even better.

Paul Hauff was a pleasure to watch before the injuries set in, great under the high ball, great in open space, then he had a shoulder reconstruction in 1992 and just never reached the same heights. Though he only played one SOO series in 1991, he showed he was definitely upto the task, scoring a try on debut and made about 3 trysavers in another game.

And that Paul Hauff situation is the worry with Jack Reed too.

What about current players that will never reach their potential?

Shaun Johnson comes to mind. Unless he leaves the Warriors.

I am not sure the likes of Mateo, Inu or Johnson belong in this thread. Johnson is only young he could still reach his potential. This is tricky because Inu and Mateo are mature footballers. If they haven't reached their potential yet maybe they are at their ceiling as players.

Pretty sure he's one of the trolls from the Greenhouse that I read about on my trip to the institution the other day.

I think he is greeneyed.

I think Inu counts. He definitely had potential, but has been really shit for a couple of years now. Even Corey Thompson is getting picked ahead of him.

Chris Lawrence might count too, though I never particularly rated him, but he is absolutely terrible now.

"They seem to hate me at Broncos HQ though. But they probably don't know I'm a QUEENSLANDER!"

Yep, found it.

Haha, hate to burst your bubble but im definitely not on the greenhouse forum.

Wow you really do hate the Broncos.

I dont hate the broncos, far from it. But they are not a club for a player like Milford to flourish. Look at barba. He is being stifled by our structured game play. You think milford will be any different? No way. He will be forced to play in our structured way and will lose what makes him the most exciting talent in the game today, his ability to play what he sees in front of him. Barba also will never be the player he was at the broncos while we play the way we play.

Barba is playing injured and struggling with form. I'd say that is why he isn't playing well not the structured play at the Broncos.
