I dont understand why when NSW is picked, it's like the selectors meet up with a piece of paper with the numbers 1 - 17 written down. 14 is already filled in with Gidley next to it and they say "ok boys, who should join gidley in the team this year". ffs, even bennett chose him for some reason in the allstars match.

remember this year Ricky Stuart actually said at a press conference "The only guaranteed selection this year is Kurt Gidley" lol.

Beau Scott - useless, only got in origin because of Bennett. proved highly ineffective.
Robbie Farah - hes decent, but IMO nowhere near even half as good as they make him out to be.
Benji Marshall - hes great, but hes not the best player in the world like we're told about 4000 times per match when rabs is the commentator.
Morris brothers - apart from catching the ball and putting it over the try line when someone else has done all the work, theyre pretty useless.
Jamie Soward - has a good kicking game when hes got noone putting any pressure on him, is quick as a gazelle, but thats about it. unless his team is dominating hes got nothing.
Mark Gasnier - Gould would marry his 'shimmy shimmy step' if he could, despite the fact its been nowhere to be seen for the last 5 years.

I think that's the success of the dragons team though. Individually I don't rate them as much as some of the media does, but they do (well normally) play quite well as a team. Everyone knows what their role is and, while not always flashy, they usually do it well.

Agreed on this. I think people confuse "best" and "most exciting". For mine he's the most exciting player in the world and can pull some amazing plays out, but he lacks the consistency to be the greatest player in the game imo. Just cause he pulls out a flashy pass, kick etc doesn't mean it's the best thing for his team at that point in the game.

Sure, they play well as a team, but the commentators still fellate them as individuals constantly which is totally unwarranted

I get why a lot of commentators hype up certain players like Marshall, Hayne and Idris because they're very marketable players so I won't touch them in fact the only player right now that I can think of is...

Terry Campese - The way Fox commentators rave on about him you swear he's a premiership winning two time dally-m medalist instead of just being a limited playmaker with a big boot who is like a germ in defence. The epitome of overated.

Just on Beau Scott, as much as I dislike him, he plays that mongrel role so well and had been playing some real good footy before the slump.

Idris takes second spot and the king of them all is Kurt Gidley.

If he's not the most overrated player in the last decade then I don't know who is. His automatic selections for every rep team I will never understand, he's a solid player but he seems to have the reputation of a superstar.
