I'm thoroughly enjoying all the commentators sinking the boot into Soward at the moment. The speed in which they've gone from "ZOMG SOwie is better than Lockyer & Johns's love child" to "Soward isn't fit to lace Scott Minto's boots" is astounding!
See that's the thing though. His good things over-ride his bad things. He might make 2-3 silly errors a game but for every over the sideline pass there are always 2 potentially match winning plays. St George game was a great example. Made a few silly errors in that game then he comes up with a match winning play that probably only Benji could have done. One of the most unpredictable players I have ever seen. Freakish talent.
Tigers will NEVER have a controlled and balanced attack while Benji is in the team. You just can't and it would be stupid to train their attack like the Storm or Dragons or something. Wouldn't work. The Tigers are thrilling because of the attacking style that is built around Benji.
If people can't see how good this guy is then they have rocks in their head. He's different to the greats of the game like Lockyer, Thurston, Cronk, Smith etc. Instead of winning games off the back of a great kicking game, controlled organisation, or a few good cut out passes, Benji wins games off the back of freakish plays and unpredictable nature - IMO, that's just as good.
funny how people on here fail to see what you said above in regards to a certain mister B. Slater as well, isnt it? its all "he threw a ball over a sideline once, and dropped a bomb once, so that overshadows the 3 length of the field tries he got in the same game".See that's the thing though. Benji is a talent for sure. but he is overrated IMO. great player, but not as good as the commentators say. he did, however, throw probably the second best pass ive ever seen earlier this year. mustve been about 35m and hit the player right on the chest to walk over for a try untouched. first best being that beauty by lockyer where he dummied both sides numerous times and then threw it on the bad side for that running direction to put our guy over untouched in the origin last year i think it was.
