I think Hunt and Milford will make a great halves pairing, we don't need DCE.

what? :hmmmm:
You must not have read it right John
He said "we do need DCE"
What I am saying is we are unlikely to get DCE and we have signed a future star 5/8 in Milford and I am predicting Hunt to make the Halfback position his this year. We may not need DCE and we also have this thing called the Salary Cap.
I know what you were thinking but you wrote it around the wrong way:okey:[/Q
Haha missed that.
I think it would be insane NOT to want DCE if you could get him.

DCE.
And although not a player, I'd love us to sign Michael Maguire.
Lets not forget Hook made it to the prelim in his first year and so I'm not so keen to throw the kitchen sink at a fairly new coach in the NRL anyway. I'm not saying he's not really good just wanna give him time yet to really prove himself. I would rather target the Kevvie-Benny combo.
Maguire won the Super League in his first season, finished 2nd on the ladder in his second, and then top 4 with Souffs in the next 2 years.
If we go for him, it needs to be when he's off contract now.
i am hoping Kahu comes through into the outside backs maybe at centre. If the Broncos signed some of the players I've seen mentioned so far, we'd be on our way to a premiership - I'm also glad people haven't resorted to poaching the entire Test team.
I'm going to narrow my choices down to players I'd like to sign for 2015, otherwise I'd start signing a bunch of NYC players who might amount to squat.
First off, a few noticeable players off contract in 2014 for us...
Corey Parker
Justin Hodges
Ben Hannant
Dale Copley
David Hala
Question is, do we try and retain all of them or do we try and search out for some new players?
Out of this bunch, the only signing I'd make without hesitation is Parker. Hodges at 33 on his knees...he'd have to at the very least give up Origin or accept a modest wage.
Hannant, Copley and Hala have this year to prove their keep. I don't think we've received enough value out of Hannant, sure every now and then he's put in a performance of befitting his salary but otherwise he's either injured or out-muscled. Copley was showing signs of improvement, but that has been the extent of his career so far - either he delivers on the promise he showed in U20s or goes elsewhere, same deal with Hala.
So let's say, I get rid of four of those players, this is what the side would look like on paper going into 2015...
1. Ben Barba
2. Josh Hoffman
3. Jack Reed
4.
5.
6. Anthony Milford
7. Ben Hunt
8. Josh McGuire
9. Andrew McCullough
10. Martin Kennedy
11. Matt Gillett
12. Sam Thaiday
13. Corey Parker
14.
15. Alex Glenn
16.
17. Corey Oates
#4 TAUTAU MOGA - Provided he doesn't demand a king's ransom, I still think this kid has plenty of class to offer us and he may be enticed to join the club after a miserable year in Sydney. Just a really good all-round back and on the right salary, could be a valuable pick-up. Injuries are a chief concern though.
#5 JOSH MANSOUR - Can't quite figure out why Souths let him go, there has to be some glaring deficiency that I can't pick up on because I think he's a valuable winger who can roll up his sleeves and make some good metres from dummy half and isn't a sloud when it comes to running either.
#14 MATT LODGE - Who? Only one of the best prop forwards coming through the NYC. A Penrith junior who the Storm were smart enough to sign up who I'm confident will go onto bigger and better things.
As for 16, I'd probably use that spot to blood a few of our own NYC players because I believe this batch has some genuine potential.
