Positive Things Said About the Broncos Future - Thread

Yeah we have some of the most promising young players coming through that we’ve had in a long time.

TPJ, and Lodge if kept could both be amazing. Haas is incredible for his age, fafita looks good. Some good young halves, and Allen if he sticks around.

Thaiday and Boyd to retire.

Milford to have another season of experience and then he and bird to hopefully have uninterrupted preseasons to work on their new roles.

The inevitable off season of unpredictable player movement that may gift us a gun signing or two.

On top of that I still believe we’ll make finals this season.

The NRL are clamping down on that, capping the amount of feet a mascot can have, they don't want teams going broke on buying them new shoes etc

Actually, the shes themselves are banned, too upper class for the general league follower, the NRL are trying to be PC remember. A good thing they are spending money themselves on important positions like gender advisor and finding a job for retired referees.

I,d like to think we get our retention right which is every bit as important as our recruitment.

Sad to see Arrow and indeed Wallace go. Taylor I can accept - we had Hunt.

I fully understand we are unable to keep ALL the up and comers, salary cap, other clubs making seriously unreal offers, injury etc will see some fall by the wayside but we must do our best in the areas where we are weak.

In the so called ‘golden years’ not many left the Broncos, even for more money, and although I accept times change, to be offering the likes of Boyd lengthy contracts at his age surely adversely impacts our ability to keep the likes of Arrow and co.

Our retention and of course recruitment will improve in the future - if it doesn't us supporters and indeed sponsors will want to know why.

Really pisses me off seeing how well Arrow is playing this year. Arguably has been the bets forward in the comp. Why did we prioritise resigning Ofa instead of Arrow? Surely they could have given Thaiday the tap on the shoulder to help accommodate Ese'ese. Our pack would be looking really good right now if we still had them. I know it would have cost a bit more money to have kept them both but surely they could have managed something.

Anyway, enough whinging from me. Positive things to come.... for the first time in a long time I can only see us losing 1 or 2 players to State of Origin. The Moose is the only player I think will definitely be given a spot. I've got a feeling Kevvie won't pick Boyd although Valentine has been ordinary this year so you never know. Could probably throw Roberts in for an outside chance as the blues centre but I don't think that will happen until he gets his defence in order.

On a positive note, i think a few younger players will get their chance a little earlier to shine than what was anticipated. It may not change results, but giving them a go early go might afford them some experience they can carry into the future. Players blooded early tend to develop a little quicker. I'm not advocating all our colts players get a call up though :). We don't need to copy brown's newcastle strategy just yet.

I think Milford will develop into the games best half. Game management is something that can be learnt (Eg crock) and slowly but surely he is progressing, week by week
