POST GAME POST GAME [Round 2, 2023] Broncos vs Cowboys

I’m liking the way Kevin Walters is coming across in his media conferences this year.. he’s a fraction more serious & thoughtful in his responses, particularly to those about how well the team or certain players are going.. I get the sense what happened towards the end of last season and some of the commentary regarding his coaching has put a harder edge on him..

Also get the sense that he & Reynolds are very much aligned in wanting more from this season than 2022 and that expected standards within the club have risen this year
Thought the same thing with that presser.
No sign of Kev the larrikin, Just Kev the coach.

Yeah Kev has handled this season really well so far.

It's bloody bullshit, we lose an important player for 8 weeks due to foul play and he gets charged for 3 weeks.

I've got Dave Donaghys number now so I'll text him and complain

Hiku also charged with a grade 2 crusher ... facing 2-3 weeks

agreed but you gottta admit though with my suggestion even though yes it can open another can of worms of issues one thing it will fix is bias and agendas. No one can argue if its clear as day what the rules are.

Do a hip drop and break a blokes leg and he misses 12 weeks well sorry your gone for 12 weeks.
Try a big shot on someone with your shoulder but you hit there head and there gone for 8 weeks well sorry 8 weeks for you.

Will it always be Fair? probably not. And will it mean some big name stars miss weeks for a brain fart? yes.

But at least it kills any bias and agenda and every single person knows its the rules like it or not.

It's a little bit like the obstruction rule.
Is it a fucked rule sometimes and it can deny fair try like it did the broncos tonight ? yes. but at least now they are consistent with it because its black and white. and even though it sucks at least fans are a bit more accepting of it. they are still pissed in the heat of the moment but not nearly as much as they would be when there seems to be bias and agendas at play.

Nah !
So If the player is reckless and dangerous but doesn`t cause injury ? No penalty / suspension ?
The intent not the outcome is what should be penalised .

Was it Drinkwater or was it Townsend that did the damage to Oates ? They both hit him in the head . Townsend wasn`t even cautioned !

Actually i thought reynolds was the no.1 supporter of kevin walters from day 1. He is a coach's dream as captain and i dont walters could have asked for anyone better for his first head coaching role.
He is never out of step and quick to shoot down anything resembling dissatisfaction or difference in the media with regard to the players.
A couple of players have been on public record as we know and if not for Reynolds, he probably wouldnt have a job.
In return he has backed his captain and shot any talk down of reynolds form or that of the players, always putting it on the moment with good times ahead. Temporary set backs if you will, rather than questioning ability.

The negative views on here about Staggs are a bit over the top. His defence was excellent and he was error free. You can't compare him to the other side of the field where all our attacking flare went.
He scored a try and completely neutralized the best centre in the competition. Room to improve? For sure. But last night did his job.

Speaking of neutralizing: Patty and Taumalolo going at it like two bulls. Couldn't separate them.
