POST GAME POST GAME [Round 3, 2023] Broncos vs Dragons

One of the reasons I don’t miss going to games. Annoying ***** that always interrupt by leaving their seats up to 5 times a night.

You don’t need more drinks at the 60th minute ffs. Watch the game or **** off to the pub

Try the unlicensed area next time.

Yep I never go licensed any more: no drunk assholes swearing in front of your kids, no beer spills on you, no people moving constantly to the bar, I sneak out at half time for a drink if it’s a stressful game and have one before the game.

Ha ha we do exactly this too now.

ARey put in two average chip kicks on the right that were easily countered, but the third time he shapes for a similar kick only to go deep into the line and release Walsh, we score.

planned much?
And you can see Lomax bite on the fake kick... Walsh goes around him and then Cobbo back through his gap, because he's chasing Walsh all the way to the sideline.

I know we all just take Haas’s output for granted these days but it needs to be highlighted.

59 minutes
18 runs
240 run metres
104 post contact metres
2 tackle breaks
2 offloads results in 2 line breaks
Both resulted in tries
26 tackles
0 missed
0 errors
1 penalty

He is really an unbelievable player. I hope Kev continues to resist over playing him.
I’m glad they’re managing his playing time better. He’s an 80 min player but this is so much more impactful to have him play 20-25 min stints.

That is the exact point, and that's why you need multiple opportunities on your opponent's line in order to set these plays up. The point of the dinky kicks aren't to score, at best they are to get a repeat set, bit primarily they are to have the opposition hanging back for the kick, giving the runners space.

As much as some other halves seem like absolute spuds, you can understand how hard it must be to play behind a beaten pack, because without the multiple opportunities on the opponent's line, you can't do the setup work. They either have to chance their hand knowing their opportunities would be limited, or they go through the setup work and just hope to **** they finally get the chance to pull the trigger later in the game. And why some spuds end up looking like champions because their team is given leg-ups and manufactured 6-agains to give them all the time in the world.

It all worked out ok in the end....well more than ok.

We were shocking in the first half, it was a grind for the first 70 mins before we got some points on the board which flattered us.

We played silly buggers, trying to be too cute because 'Dragons' and it nearly didn't work out for us. We need to play every game the same. Earn the right to go around teams, by beating them up through the middle. We have one of the best packs in the comp, I love that Carrigan has a bit of ball playing in his game now, but I thought he overused it in the first half.

2 of their tries were pretty soft and we had 2 Cobbo tries disallowed which added to the pressure.

Lots to work on and I'm stoked with the win, but I want to see some ruthlessness from the boys, this weekend will be a fine time to start.

Something no one has mentioned from Saturday night's game. Was when the Dragons tried to rough handle one of our players (I can't recall who it was. Might have been Walsh) anyway they tried to do the stand-over tactic and big Marty was there in a flash to let them know that that sort of shit is no longer tolerated by us. I think Riki also came rushing over. Nothing came of it, but it was heartening to see that we are starting to stick up for each other. Take no 💩 from no one!

Riki is having his break out season if he continues on this trajectory, leads the kick chase and hits hard. imagine going up against our right hand D with Riki and Staggs just belting people
Opposition fullbacks are likely to have one eye on them while catching Reyno's bombs if they hear the footsteps, for sure.

I have noticed once Kotoni puts one on his opposite number they tend to try and avoid him after that. This is good, we have been screaming for some impact in defence for a number of years.

Well I finally got to see the game after becoming a Father over the weekend. We have won three ways so far, tough gritty defensive, all rounder complete and now average with the flash of brilliance to get the win comfortably in the end.

You need wins in a season obviously but the big thing you need is different wins. You need to work out what scenarios you can overcome. It's great signs and it gives you those 2015 sensations of "we have a team here". Back in 15 the media took ages to notice. For whatever reason they are noticing this potential now.

Congratulations mate!! Most rewarding, tiring, frustrating...wait did I say rewarding...experience ever!

Watching the replay, I'm actually surprised the Paix try didn't go upstairs to the bunker.

Watching all available angles on the broadcast frame-by-frame, I can't find one that shows the ball touching the ground. There's a couple that shows hands under the ball. Looks very much like he was held up.

I think they had enough to overturn that or take another look at the very least, so I'm surprised they didn't. We got a bit lucky there.
Why would it go upstairs when they were the ones that confirmed the try? Would seem hypocritical to attempt to overturn their own decision.
