Post game talk Broncos VS Bunnies

Another of my regular gripes about the Broncos we have never developed the ability to either offload/support offloaders and we never have anyone backing up linebreaks EVER! The fullback's main duty in attack should be to back up through the middle and I am not having a go at Hunt here but he never does it. This is probably due to the club being obsessed with his alleged playmaking skills so he is a bit wider like a 5/8th, but even then there is no one through the middle to compensate him not doing it and there never has been. You only have to watch Luke Patten every week for the Dogs to realise how valuable this simple part of the game is to your side on the scoreboard.

Gee, the Broncs got heaps of problems right now. This team against the Rabbits was pretty much a full team minus Lockyer, Thiaday, Falou and Kenny. The worrying thing is that it's looking like another struggle even if Lockyer and Thiaday play nxt wk against the Titans. I won't waste my breath on Michaels. I've bagged him in the past, he hasn't done anything to change my opinion. Looking like we might miss the 8. Hope we don't!

Very disappointing

Pretty much a full team, and you go on to say that we were missing four of our best players?

The Broncos lack direction, and stability. We need to stick a team on the field, and let the team gel. Changing it week in week out is just stupid.

I'll stand by my point. We will not make the finals this year. Which maybe a good thing. Perhaps we'll see some of the bandwagon supporters who only support the Broncos because they always win, piss off.

I've been indifferent about Michaels all season but last night he showed me why he should be dropped. That was horrendus. Single-handedly let in 3 tries with his poor defensive reads.

To the ppl that think wallace tried and played ok, did u only watch us attack? He was absolutely dreadful in defence. He helped make michaels look like the worst player to ever play for the broncos.

Say what u will about slater, but at least he puts in 100% each game. Hunt was good in attack but pathetic in defence as usual.

This is where we are missing 2 players - Shaun Berrigan and Darius Boyd. Both those guys have great vision and are great support players. Probably not much we could've done to avoid Berrigan leaving, but we kept Michaels instead of Boyd - WHY?????

Because the club wanted to be seen as supportive to an injured player.. it was poor judgment.

I thought the game turned when we were attacking about 40 meters out and Karmichael kicked a fkn grubber on the fkn 3rd tackle. Jamie Simpson picked it up and made big meters and from that point on it was all one way.

the grubber is hunts only attacking move (altho he pulled off a good pass last night). its predictable that every time we get within 20 he will grubber

That game last night made me disgusted to support the broncos. We are pathetic in defence we really are. Steve Michaels, Lagi Setu, Ben Te'o and a few others need to be released and we need to recruit some better players. As much as I love having Izzy at the broncos, if we did not get him we could still have Ennis, Hannant and Boyd, and I would much rather have all of them rather than Folau!

This whole Folau argument. It can't be true he cost all those players - I don't buy it. He would beon 300 or 350 at most is my opinion. I doubt he cost all of them. The fact we couldn't keep ONE baffles me. Should have kept Boyd and Stagg is my opinion. Obviously Ennis and Hannant offers could not have been matched - supposedly.

A truly dreadful performance. The only positive out of last night is that Hodges appears to be getting back to form but apart from that there is absolutely nothing to take from last night's game.

I'm dreading the trip down the M1 next week. We're ripe for another pasting.

I don't know about Ennis. I have heard him in an interview say that he had an option and wanted to stay at the Broncos, but they told him that there would be nothing at the Broncs after that year option, so he looked elsewhere. If that is correct, and why would he care to lie after the event, then a decision was clearly made by someone at the Broncs to get rid of him. I would like to know who made that call.

No, this is STILL the right move by the club. I'm sick to death of people continually bringing this up. Michaels at the time was playing great footy, you're an idiot if you can't acknowledge that.

Both short and long term Michaels was the cheaper option.

How on Earth would we be able to fund a backline consisting of Hunt, Hodges, Boyd, Folau, Lockyer and Wallace?

IT IS JUST NOT FEASIBLE

If anything the choice was between Folau and Boyd, and the club chose Folau.

So Michaels was playing great footy even though he had just gotten a knee reconstruction? [eusa_eh

If you recall, Boyd had an option in his favour to stay and he originally decided that is what he was going to do, (so Kemp left to the Warriors). The club to Boyd that they would release him if he got a significantly better offer from another club as they couldn't guarantee him a new offer at the end of this year. the Dragons came up with that offer so he had taken it. BTW, if Boyd had signed for the Dragons before Kemp signed with the Warriors we would still have Kemp as he said he couldn't see him playing first grade regularly with; Hunt, Hodges, Michaels, Folau and Boyd at the club

He was out injured, had been playing decent footy before that but IMO not better than Boyd or Kemp for that matter. I know I certainly didn't agree with the decision at the time and have never really rated him as anything other than a solid attacker which he isn't even doing this year. He's pathetic and needs to be dumped to regain some confidence or preferably cut altogether.

he was playing great footy then he got the knee recon. and i'm not sure if people recall but after Hodges got his knee recon he was playing ordinary footy as well. from what i understand it can take at least a year after you make your return before you are right again.

But the general consensus was that the Broncos "would not stand in the way" for Boyd. Didn't really feel as if they tried at all. I agree that it would not have been FEASIBLE but did the club really not have ANY interest in keeping some of the players? It's not like they were 'past-it' like Thorn or Carlaw were when we knew they had to go - Ennis? Eastwood? Stagg? Boyd? NONE of these four? I find it a bit hard to believe personally.
