Before putting the blame on Henjak, half the blame goes on cullen, our recruitment was terrible.
Whats the point of having a million dollar backline when we have nothing up front.
Here are my few points:

Steve Michaels has to be goneskies offers nothing in attack, crap in defence.
Mcguire is not ready havent seen him do anything since playing, Hunt is not a playmaker way to predictible.
The broncos have no depth also predictable with the short game they always use.
Letting Dave Taylor go is another massive mistake, how can u keep Mcguire and not keep Taylor??

Hodges is awesome tried his heart out, letting Petro, Hannant and even Thorne go were all mistakes we just have nothing in the engine room.

as Gus said there is something bad happening at the Broncos and i must agree.

The question remains is the season over?????

Ps: Even if Lockyer was out there it would have not made a difference.

Gee, the Broncs got heaps of problems right now. This team against the Rabbits was pretty much a full team minus Lockyer, Thiaday, Falou and Kenny. The worrying thing is that it's looking like another struggle even if Lockyer and Thiaday play nxt wk against the Titans. I won't waste my breath on Michaels. I've bagged him in the past, he hasn't done anything to change my opinion. Looking like we might miss the 8. Hope we don't!

Very disappointing

It's ridiculous how hapless we look when either Hodges or Locky is missing. Sigh. Can't score. I do think recruitment was harsh but wasn't it heavily based on the fact those players (bar Stagg) received substantial offers that could not be ignored? In saying that it is confusing how we didn't keep ONE of them isn't it?

I don't like the fact we've turned to buying in players, this bleeds the heart and prestige of playing for a team - and I don't think it sends a positive message to the development players either. The younger stars of the future will now be looking for who can offer them the most $$$ rather than chasing a dream, leading to lack of depth.

I remember the days when players were asked who they'd like the play for, most answers were the broncos (mainly due to Bennet probably), I wonder who it would be for these days...

Hodges, Wallace, Hunt and Parker tried their heart out. It just come down to the shit players (u know who!)

I think ivan the terrible has to go! right now!

But this implosion has been coming for a few years and maybe thats why WB bailed out. You can't base a whole club's future around the ability of one or two very special players and expect it to work forever, we've had a great run, but the game is too fast for one player to do it all... and sadly lockyer is going to see this happen around him over and over again 'till we find some heart and a pack that can make some yards and some tackles.

We could be the worst club in history by season's end, because these cricket scores might just keep on coming.

This is my first post, After reading what you guys have said it pretty well sums it up at the Broncos atm.
Michels had yet another awful performance, his defence is terrible, when he does make a break he doesn't pass (recent weeks). There is clearly no depth at the Broncos, you take out a few key players and the Broncos become show ponies.
Wasn't it a honour to wear the broncos jersey and follow in the foorsteps of the likes of Lewis, Langer, Lazarus etc? Yet now with these younger players they don't show the passion, or the honour.
Surely Henjak must have a big target on his forehead by now. Its time for the 3rd new coach at the Broncos.

In 2007 when we had our backs against the walls, and everyone wrote us off, I was the one who started the "I Believe" catchphrase, and while we got smashed in the first week of the finals, we showed a lot of heart and courage to get there.

This time around, im clutching at straws. Why should i believe, if the players don't? Why should i care, if they don't? All i saw was a bunch of players going thru the motions tonight, a few exceptions of course, such as peter wallace who actually tried a few things. But this was bullshit.

Like an idiot, I wont be able to help myself but believe they may win, coz I love this team, but the fucking effort they showed tonight was piss fucking poor. First time ever i have booed the Broncos.

i think we need to look to players like Williams who have been playing in the qld cup for years hoping for a chance at playing for the broncos. these guys will play fro pride and hopefully know how to defend as a team. blend them with our best young players and you can start to attempt to build some momentum, as at the moment we are going backwards, FAST.

This is a very dark day for the Broncos. Even without Lockyer and Thaiday, we still had a better team on paper than Souths. I know teams are never won on paper, but we played as if we thought they are. No heart, no passion, no desire. They're not playing for each other at the moment. Not running in numbers, not backing up our kickers with any sort of good chase, and absolutely no talk on our goal line when trying to defend.

I was expecting the crowd to boo us off the field after the game. Normally I think that's pretty lame, but tonight I wouldn't have blamed them one bit. I called for them to come back when they find some passion and there were plenty of similar calls from the stand as they walked up the tunnel.

Ghibli said a couple of weeks ago that there is no pride in the jersey at the moment and I have to agree.

That was horribly painful to watch. Outside of Hodges I would pick an entirely new 17 next week. The effort was non existent. We have had the problem for years but this year worse than ever of letting the opponent play way too fast we don't compete on the ground like the rest of the teams do and then sides get a roll on and cruise down the field. You can't let sides make 60 or 70 meters a set and expect to win matches.

I am glad Hunt is going he was pathetic tonight! His lack of effort in contesting the grubber for Talanoa's try typifies exactly why I hate the guy, he doesn't run the ball like he used to and he doesn't defend his in goal like he used to. Ever since the Toilet-Gate he has had one foot out the door and I say good riddance regardless of the odd moment of genius with the ball.

It pains me to watch the team I love play at the moment because they still seem to believe you can hold the defensive line 10m away and slide letting the opponent get a minimum of 10m per carry and then not wrestle or slow down the ruck and let them get our defense back peddling therefore giving them more free meters. Even Wayne Bennett has realised you need to push up in defense and slow down the ruck and you can see the results in the Dragons against column.

I have to agree,

Needs to be some major changes made to this side.

Give some of the Qld cup or under 20's talents a shot.

^ I don't really agree. It's not talent that we're lacking, it's attitude. There should be some changes like I've said all season Micheals is certainly on the must go list but attitude is the huge factor here.

When Hunt let Talanoa score that try, it wasn't a lack of speed, a lack of skill or a lack of strength that had him concede a try which shouldn't of ever happened, it was a lack of attitude. When time after time after time the Rabbitohs ran the same play down the left side defence, it wasn't a lack of skills, smarts or ability missing, Michaels as woeful as his attack has been his defence has been ok, Wallace is a very good defender on his day, etc What was missing was pride, commitment and a never give up attitude. Instead of all players pulling their socks up and saying they got one try down there that'll be their last they said bugger it we're going to lose anyway.

Coupled with the fact we have a rookie coach, a CEO who is a contender for the worst in Australian sport carried by on-field success and the loss of players with winning attitudes, good family values and a genuine love for the Broncos being virtually forced out along with the most successful coach ever being basically pushed out it's not exactly hard to see why the Broncos are where they are. It's been happening slowly for a few years now but was "stop gapped" due to having very good and experienced players along with a brilliant coach.

The harder the Broncos fall this year the better it will be for the club in the future. Too long there has been a resistance to acknowledge a problem with onfield success being a main factor in the lack of acknowledgement. A big fall from grace like the Broncos missing the top 8 for the first time ever and the finals for the first time in 17 years along with regular thrashings will force those in power to admit there is a problem instead of running around pretending all is fine and admitting there is a problem is the first step to getting any where near solving the problem. The longer there is denial the further and harder the Most successful club in the past 25 years the Mighty Brisbane Broncos will fall.

I thought Wallace had a decent game, he took the line on a few times tonight and got through only to lack support

I can answer that. Theres probably about $200-300k difference between the two players.
You do realize there is something called a salary cap?

Agreed. He was trying his heart out but no one was backing him up.
