Pre-season

If last night is anything to go by I’ve got me not watching after ten rounds due to this set restart garbage. I really don’t like how the game looks anymore.
You should check out Rugby Union. No sets EVER and it's AWESOME.

Riki, Bullemor and Walsh looked excellent in their games this weekend
Tass was promising
Everyone else looked pretty much meh but those top three are certainly worth being excited about for the future.

This year is a write off but the squad looks like it will have a quite a few of the holes filled come ‘22 if they can keep the kids together. Just need a hooker and five-eighth who can use all this talent.

It’s the first game any of those players would have played since last season/origin, was also very greasy conditions and humid as **** being in Townsville. Early season games are always shit

How is it a write off before it even starts, yeah maybe we won't challenge for the premiership but it still might be a good year after that shit show last year.

Absolutely. Not finishing with the spoon, which so many predict and want to happen out there, will make it a good year.

Sorry, if my team isn’t competing for the premiership it is a write off in my eyes. Yeah there may be lessons learned but I couldn’t care less, I want to see my team win the premiership.

HScreenshot 2021 02 21 Salary cap cops set minimum price for Smith deal

The NRL has said it will not allow any club to sign Smith for less than $500k, nor pay him any money outside the salary cap as part of a post-football transition into club employment for 2022 and beyond.

The Broncos and Titans can't claim salary-cap exemptions for a ‘career-transition payment’ for a post-football job. Had Smith remained at The Storm this year, they would have received salary-cap dispensation for a portion of his $1 million wage for any "ambassadorial work" due to his long-service status.

That sounds like NSWRL have been allowing some sort of dodgy salary cap bullshit for the storm over the last few years

What do you mean "over the last few years?" I think you meant for most of their existence.
I guess I mean NSWRL sanctioned salary cap cheating... rather than the Storm having a boat business on the side and the players having two contracts

Injury Update: Dale Copley

broncos.com.au
Sun 21 Feb 2021, 02:58 PM

Broncos winger Dale Copley suffered a throat injury in Friday night’s trial game against Wynnum Manly at Kitchener Park.

Copley was scanned at the Clive Berghofer Centre Qscan facility, and consultation with a specialist has revealed dislocated cartilage and a small fracture.

He has undergone a laryngoscopy which showed significant trauma to the throat and swelling in his airway.

Broncos Head Of Performance Andrew Croll said: “Dale must rest from all exercise for at least a week and will have another laryngoscopy to determine if he needs surgery.

“He will need at least 6 weeks out of contact, and we will have to see how it settles to determine on when he can return to low intensity exercise.”

Maybe we should start a thread specifically for injuries to help everybody keep a track? 🤷‍♂️
