POST GAME [PREMIERS, 2025] Broncos vs Storm

After watching this a few times the only thing that I can think of is he stops play after the Shiba break because old mate is down milking the head contact.

Agree that it shouldn't have been a penalty, even Brandy said "tough call" on the fox call and we all know how much he like us.
It was an absolute bullshit call.

And if they're going to allow diving to count as a stoppage in play for challenges then get ready for the absolute shitstorm it will create.

With how out of control the NRL has allowed the challenge system to become it should actually be scrapped... they've completely shit the bed with it.

Locky was safer than Walsh. But I'm not sure safe would've won us this premiership.
You're forgetting Lockyer's composure and game management, so we wouldn't be chasing down as many points.

His kicking game would've had us in better field position so potentially storm dont score as many points.

The gameplan and errors, etc. may have been less because of Lockyer's execution of a gameplan, so less opportunities for storm to score.

You're also comparing completely different forms of the game now.

The 6 again era is completely different compared to the 00's tactics and also compared to the 90's.

Lockyer in this era may have been closer to how Cleary plays (long kicking with high intensity defence to dominate territory)... squad composition may be different to play that style.

And thats before we're talking about whether Locky is playing 1 or 6 in this comparison... Locky at 1 with this team doesnt need a Reyno at 7... but he'd make Ezra ****ing lethal.

If it's Locky at 6, who does he get as his 1... is it prime Khunt as well or even just a lesser form of Reece.

Because Locky at 6 with any form of Reece at 1 and Ezra as the other half, we're winning that by plenty.

100% this. I hope the narrative doesn't become that we just kept getting away with it with all of our wins at the death - we absolutely earnt every one of those victories.

We played the long game and it paid off in spades.
I dont think ive seen the mental resilience and fitness that we had this year ever in a broncos side. Even our losses were all pretty close barring a few.

Like others have said. The NRL has to get this whole Vegas thing right. I think they are just trying to do to much in a season with the GF, international competition, Vegas etc. Even origin is a major buzz kill for some sides. Its a significant disadvantage making the GF and playing in Vegas the following year.

The lesson to the kids was if you promise you are going to do something, you follow through with the promise.

Every game in the finals could have gone bad for us. We had a lot if things fall our way.

The Hosking's drop at 28 - 12.
The Mclean intercept at 14 nil.
The Kamakamika drop at 22 - 12.
Not that we weren't due some ****ing luck in finals, it was glorious and like a lot have said it just felt like destiny was with us this year.

I hope Shiba has kissed Walsh's ring ( premiership) for saving that last break. That would have been a Bhunt moment for Shiba. Pretty ordinary effort tbh and would have taken the gloss off his amazing year.

How much fun are we going to have watching this side if we get fit and stay healthy. 2026 .Can't wait.

I'll never be ok with 2015 even though we just saw Hunts redemption. 2023 didn't hurt anywhere near as much IMO.
honestly, nothing will ever top 2015 for heartbreak (as a fan anyway). it was a long ass walk back to chelsea from the australian in NYC.

in some ways it's been beneficial, 2023 sucked but I was just like welp that sucks. nothing can ever hurt as bad as 2015.

but it's all in the past now.

So what happens if Riki didn’t catch the ball given how far he ran in? Had a moment of Inglis-in-the-corner 2009 vibes for a second

Right now he's better than Lockyer and Langer ever were, and that's no small compliment.

The time is now.
Can't agree with this take. Locky was clutch as ****, in any situation, ever. The calm head settling the team, sticking to the plan, turning momentum, making the right choice at the right time - nearly every game. Walsh has done it a few times but still has a shocking error in him at times and still has bad games. He will continue to mature, but he's nowhere near Locky - yet. Can he get there? Quite possibly, with his skill set, confidence, toughness...he can be the best the game's ever seen. But he's not there yet.

Doesn't matter and I refuse to think about it lol
