Hoffman isn't getting the ball because the opposition has started shutting down our second man play, the only play we seem to have. The halves need to start varying things up a lot more - it's one of the more important things of the job, and they aren't doing it.
Well, any good side will wake up to an effective attacking play, which is why the try Glenn scored on the left side the other week was good to see.
At the same time, I agree there are issues with our 2nd man plays which makes it easier to shut down (harder if it's Glenn taking the money ball).
Positioning - we still stand way too flat. That makes it so much easier for the defence to mark up, forces the quick pass with little margin for error, and as we saw a few times, our outside back(s) over-run the ball carrier.
We need to stand deeper, and I still think Norman ought to use his brains a bit more and focus on reading that play and getting his timing right.
I also agree the variety from our halves is poor - few effective short kicks behind the line, positioning our back rowers to run holes (like Prince > Gillett: only done that once in 8 games), changing direction, short inside passes to running props etc etc.
I am expecting Prince -Gillett - Hodges - Kahu to score a few good tries this week
