Aiden Guerra should be there before both Papalii or McQueen on this years form. I think he plays a hard running and tackling edge game that screams Origin.

Papalii is down on form, but he's easily the most talented, can play on the edge and in the middle and is a strong defender.

NRL.com's squad.

1. Slater
2. Boyd
3. Inglis
4. Hodges
5. Tate
6. Thurston
7. Cronk
8. Scott
9. Smith
10. Myles
11. Thaiday
12. Gillett
13. Parker

14. DCE
15. Lillyman

I'm not a big fan of the bench.

I honestly don't believe McGuire is Origin standard yet.

That team is good but I would sub out McGuire and McQueen for Guerra and Te'o.

Bottom line though Lillyman has to be the 3rd prop. Has always been good when picked and is in tremendous form despite his sides horrible inconsistency.

I've got no problem picking any of McGuire, Lillyman or Lawrence as a bench prop. We do need to pick a bench prop though. ****, I'm even hoping for just one, when in reality you want 2.

That pack + bench, oh my god. Mal has become too arrogant...or too retarded.

Not an enormous fan of having McQueen there tbh, he's a very one dimensional player, especially off the bench, I'd be giving that bench spot to an X-Factor player, maybe Dave Taylor.

I really don't see the need for McQueen when Te'o, Papalii and Gillett are in the side..

I know there are 2 players on the bench that can play at prop, but it's been a while since they have. I would prefer they pick a specialist prop or 2 on the bench..

If I remember correctly, McQueen plays as a second rower for Souths? Or am I mistaken?

Yeah, at least one of Lillyman, McGuire or Lawrence is a must.

McQueen is worthless too.

This is why I called Scott's performances the most important too.

Man, I really wish Dave Taylor would find it in himself to become the player he should be. Really, he should be like the fifth Burgess brother, the guy played for Souths too ffs, there's no excuse but he's really just a sideshow attraction like big Fui or Manu these days. Does the occasional good thing but has too many flaws to really cut it at this level.

I'm with Alec on this one. If McQueen isn't there as JT's specialist bodyguard than go with a specialist prop like Lawrence or McGuire.

Heck, I'd even take Napa over one of the backrows.

My personal preference would be

McQueen out, Lillyman in
Te'o out, McGuire in

I think NSW beat us in the forwards last year, and fairly convincingly. Now if they had decent halves to make good of that field position and room, they probably would have won. We need front rowers, especially that now Thaiday is out too.

Gillett and Papa start in the 2nd row. I still don't know about Gillett defensively, but he did a good job on Taylor, and has been overall a lot better this year than the last, so I'll give him a chance starting on the edges.

8. Scott
9. Smith
10. Myles
11. Gillett
12. Papalii
13. Parker

14. DCE
15. McGuire
16. Lillyman
17. Guerra

I'd have Lillyman ahead of McQueen. Lawrence and McGuire are not really impact props, they're more the workhorse type, which we already have in Nate Myles.
Depending on his form, I might prefer Papalii starting over Te'o. Guerra definitely deserves the call up, he's been playing plenty of quality minutes for the chooks...

I guess this means the push for Inglis at fullback has died out

This article says that Lillyman and McGuire are front runners to replace Papalii and Thaiday. So who knows at this point, the media are probably just speculating.

They probably won't even decide until they see Papalii play today.
