Queensland Bulls 2015/2016

Qld 1/37

Bulls haven't lost at the Gabba for 8 games or since March 2013.

Burns 6.

Great effort from captain Hartley to give QLD a pretty good lead in very low scoring game.

18 wickets in a day!

Wildermouth was excellent and this second innings is his chance to win a game for Qld. He's our game winner.

Lead 217 if they can push that up to 250 this morning that might be enough if they then bowl really well. It's going to be over today either way.

Vic 4/68

Need another 160

Wildermuth 2/18

Vic 5/97

Quiney gone that's a big wicket.

131 left to get.

Bulls win by 100 runs

Hopes 4
Wildermuth 3

Good win.

Does anyone think that the Bulls can win the shield?

Queensland will host the final for the first time since 2011-12 if they beat WA and Victoria either lose to NSW or draw. But the Bulls can miss out on the final altogether if they suffer a loss against the Warriors next week and other results don't go their way due to the congested Shield table.

Possible final combinations for Traegar Park:
Victoria v Queensland or New South Wales or South Australia or Western Australia
The Bushrangers control their fate. If they win against NSW in Alice Springs with at least 2.05 bonus points, they'll return to Traegar Park to host the Shield final and could face any of the other teams in the competition (excluding wooden-spooners Tasmania).
If the Vics win with less than 2.05 bonus points, Queensland could overtake them on the ladder but the Bushrangers wouldn't drop any lower than second.

Possible final combinations for the Gabba:

Queensland v New South Wales or Victoria or South Australia

If Victoria lose, draw or win with less than 2.05 bonus points and Queensland prevail over the Warriors, the Bulls could pinch top spot and host the final in Brisbane. They would most likely face the Blues at the Gabba, but the Bushrangers are also a chance to be the away team, as are the Redbacks if they win and there's a draw in the VIC-NSW game.

Possible final combinations for Coffs Harbour:

New South Wales v Victoria or Queensland or South Australia

NSW need two things to go right for them to host the final. Firstly, they need to defeat Victoria in Alice Springs. Then, they would need Queensland to either lose to or draw with WA, or win with less than 1.47 bonus points.

The Blues' opponent in Coffs could be any of the other current top-four sides.

Possible final combinations for Gliderol Stadium:

South Australia v New South Wales or Queensland or Victoria

The Redbacks are an outside hope of hosting the Shield final. To do it, they'd need to beat Tasmania, and score a score a huge amount of runs in their first-innings in quick time and hope the other two Shield games are low-scoring draws, or both.

With this Shield season proving to be a topsy-turvy one, you couldn't write it off.

Bulls’ Destiny In Their Own Hands

The my FootDR Queensland Bulls will take an unchanged squad into next week’s season defining Sheffield Shield match against the Western Warriors at the Gabba. The Bulls must beat WA to ensure a spot in the Final at Easter, with the chance of hosting the first class decider for the first time since 2011-12 also a possibility. Queensland overcame ladder leaders Victoria earlier this week and now sit less than one point behind the Bushrangers in second place on the Shield table. NSW are 1.43 points behind the Bulls. Victoria will play third-placed NSW in Alice Springs next week.

If Victoria lose, draw or win with less than 2.05 bonus points and Queensland prevail over the Warriors, the Bulls could claim top spot and hosting rights at the Gabba. Queensland lost a fiercely contested match against the Warriors last month at the WACA but are unbeaten at the Gabba this summer.

While James Hopes’ illustrious playing career draws to a close, he continues to annex personal milestones as the season finale looms. Hopes, Queensland’s leading wicket-taker with 25 so far this season, needs two more dismissals for 300 career First Class wickets and seven for 300 Sheffield Shield wickets for Queensland. He also needs five more runs to reach 5000 Sheffield Shield runs for the Bulls. Should he achieve those marks, he would join former Australian and NSW allrounder Greg Matthews as the only players to produce 5000 runs and 300 wickets in the Shield competition.

Meanwhile young batsman Sam Heazlett need seven more runs to record the third best debut season by a Queenslander. The Redlands left-hander has scored 640 runs so far this summer for the Bulls. The most runs in a debut Sheffield Shield season for Queensland were compiled by Test great Matthew Hayden (975) followed by top international imports Graeme Hick (845) and Ian Botham (646).
