Q-CUP Queensland Cup 2021

Norths Devils 46 def. Souths Logan Magpies 4

Norths ran away with it in the second half delivering the Magpies a dose of reality.

The Devils go to outright first with 7 games of the regular season remaining. Of the games remaining Round 16 vs. Wynnum and Round 18 vs. Burleigh shape up as the biggest tests leading into the finals.

Ezra really good today, easily his best game in the ISC. First try as just backing up on the inside but second try just after half time was taking on the line and beating defenders after the hit too.

Really good defence with no misses. Souths still stink but he's trying hard and adapting. Starting to improve his playing for others too, not just running. Nice pass for a line break in the second half and nice try assist for Tonge

Halves watch today.

Sexton was sensational today on ISC debut- let Taylor go Titans! Unbelievable poise and control for a 20 year old half.

NRL debut today, thought he was great, scored a try, got them around and showed that maturity and control.

Ezra was good again in MM yesterday, he's enjoyable to watch. Five tries in six games in MM this year and kicks goals.

He's probably gone past fun now! I thought last week he was really good but this week probably just shaded it. Loved the play five minutes in made the cover tackle, got back in the line and then when Tweed came right he was there and forced the mistake again.
Josh James on debut for Souths this week. Very steady minded player. He was impressive last year through lock down and kept training with the Broncos. Great leader and very impressive half.

Was captain of a very strong Queensland U18 side in 2019 with Walker, Coates, Simpkin, Walsh, Piakura and Howarth all on the verge of playing NRL or already done it now.

James finally debuted today in ISC, after playing Colts for Souths. Thought he was excellent, nice kicks across field for his outside man in difficult conditions. Kicked well and gave the ball to Mam.

Are the highlights up anywhere yet by the way? Decided to watch the Dogs v Sharks game today instead

Cool, thanks Pete. Yeah it’s on Kayo too but I don’t have time to catch up on it at the moment. I’ll just be patient.

The QRL usually puts out a round summary video in the next day or two.

No ISC for another two weeks in line with community sport directive.

Do we know if the ISC will likely play out the rest of the rounds later in the year or if the season will just be cut short?

Would be a real shame if some of the players are unable to get a good run of games to close out the season. Especially Cobbo.

Three rounds missed will be played at the end. Grand FInal now looks like 9 or 10 of October.

NSWRL pulled the pin on KOE Cup, HN Women's premiership, Jersey Flegg, RM Cup and Shield.

Hopefully this happens. These guys need the development.
Unfortunately Wynnum aren’t doing so well without the Broncos contracted players.

Queensland Rugby League has provided clarity about the remainder of the Intrust Super Cup and Hastings Deering Colts seasons following consultation with its statewide competition clubs and stakeholders.
In a concerted effort to ensure as many rounds and games are played as possible following the current suspension of fixtures due to COVID-19 pandemic, the duration of both competitions will be extended by two weeks.

This means the 2021 grand final is now scheduled for the weekend of October 9-10 at Redcliffe’s Moreton Daily Stadium.
“We’re pleased to be in a position today to share with our clubs and fans that we have the capability to extend the season into October,” QRL chief operating officer Rohan Sawyer said.
“We understand what rugby league means to our participants and communities and the prospect of getting more games in after the recent scheduling setbacks is certainly an exciting one for many.
“We are living in extraordinary times though where things can change quickly, so we will continue to monitor the latest advice and direction from the relevant authorities to ensure the health and safety of our participants.
“Our QRL competitions team and our clubs have been working hard behind the scenes to get us to this point today, and we’re now hopeful that we can resume fixtures shortly and march on until our showpiece games in October.”
Key dates of the revised Intrust Super Cup and Hastings Deering Colts finals series are as follows:
  • Finals Week 1: September 18-19
  • Finals Week 2: September 25-26
  • Preliminary finals: October 2-3
  • Grand final: October 9 or 10
In further developments, Round 18 of the Intrust Super Cup, and Round 15 of the Hastings Deering Colts, will only proceed as scheduled on the weekend of August 21-22 if restrictions across the entire state are lifted by 5pm Monday, August 16.
However, if any restrictions remain at this point, these fixtures will be cancelled.
Under the revised draw, the final rounds of the regular Intrust Super Cup season are as follows:

  • Round 19: August 28-29
  • * Round 16: September 4-5
  • * Round 17: September 11-12
* Postponed rounds

Stuckey from the Pride to the Bulldogs. Had a really good year at the Pride. I think he's the best forward off-loader in the ISC.

He will be high in the Petero Medal and Team of the year-if they do it!

Really developed nicely with Williams at the Pride, scoring tries and making ground but he has a great attacking ability- offloads and scoring tries.

Shallin Fuller rewarded for his form for the Bears with a development deal at Titans.

He's been a bit of a surprise for the Bears this year he was playing local Gold Coast at the start of the season.

Haven't had a chance to watch the game yet, but it's nice to see Mam involved heavily in the match winning play.
