Reed vs Copley: REDUX

Still prefer Copley. He's only just back from another long term injury and playing for a team that are 11-3.

Haha Fozz, coming on to the second page only leads to many possible conclusions about your post.

Reed by default. Copley has been a non event this year through injury and when he is on the field he isnt very noticeable.

Copley probably has more natural talent and physical advantages over Reed but i dont see any desire in that guy. He just seems like rugby league is just a job he does to get paid without really enjoying it.

If Copley had the fight and desire of someone like Brent Tate he could have been a real assett, as it is he will be forgotten about by most league fans.

I actually think Copley was trying too hard. He would return from head injury then run up and throw himself into tackles and brain himself. (3 head injuries in a row). He's definitely a better ball runner than Reed. Slightly less of a ball hog (Reed draws the defense over to the winger still). He's definitely faster than Reed and can step.
His biggest issue is rushing out of the defensive line which he is still doing for at the Roosters. How he left here without learning not to do that I do not know.

Copley has shown how good he can be ...

In 2014 he was one of our best players and leading try scorer ... and he did that with Griffin as coach, and Hoffman as 5/8.

just imagine how good he could be with Bennett as coach and Milford as 5/8 ... to reach his potential, all he needed with us is some consistency, i just wish that we had given him the same consistency and opportunity as Reed has been given

Even if Copley had to play on the left, I would have him there over Reed in a heartbeat. Mid year swap, let's get a petition going!

I don't think we need another elite back to be honest. We have Boyd, Reed, Kahu, Oates, & Roberts on the books. A depth signing wouldn't be the worst in the world but we don't need to break the bank getting another outside back. This is what the under 20s is for. Get a talented kid from the 20s and bring him up on the wing if need be

I didn't want to the attention away from Parker in that thread, so i'm responding in this one ... but:

please never ever again mention Reed in reference to being an "elite back"

Well if the petition is anything like these threads, having the same 6 people sign it over and over wont really count.

For the record im happy to go with the sack of potatos mentioned in the other thread.

I can do all kinds of different handwriting.

mate ... this is a technological world ... we can just do an electronic one ...

that way we only need to think of different names

Why?

I fail to see why given all that we've seen of him, why you would want him back at the club. Other than blind loyalty or gimmick posting of course.

Sadly, it's Reed. Injuries have ruined Copley. He won't ever achieve what he should have imo

There is no gimmick posting in anything that I post that does not have a meme or picture in it. I don't argue for the sake of it, I argue because it's what I actually believe, and **** anyone if they don't believe I'm being genuine. With Copley, we've seen what he can do if he can string some games together. 2014 might have been the only year that he looked good, but it's basically the only year he hasn't had a long term injury or been played out of position. Obviously, the Copley I'd want would be one that can play for 20 games each year for most years, and if he could do that I'd put him above Reed easily.

Injuries could have ruined Kahu too. Like, it's obvious he'll never be a huge threat in attack like he could have been if he didn't have 2 or 3 ACL injuries. But he still works hard and contributes to our side. Copley could sorta be the same, I doubt injuries have hurt his chances as much as Kahu's would have. But unfortunately Copley doesn't seem to have anything other than his running going for him anyway, he doesn't even have hands.

At least Reed didn't start his career by dropping every ball thrown at him.

But even so, was 2014 the type of season worth persevering with? It wasn't like he was Ben Barba circa 2012 or Tim Smith circa 2005, he was simply a good centre who still had his share of faults. He always had bad hands, his defensive reads weren't that great and he wasn't really that much of a threat with the ball. Inside the opposition 20m zone, he had a good step, but one that had become familiar to the opposition defence.

With promising players like him, we tend to think of the great times like him carving up Ben Henry or an out of sorts Manly defensive line with Littlejohn failing to slide with Matai. Sure, those are excuses, yet they only seem to be applied when he's having a poor game (out of position, this player could make any player look bad).
