Referees

I think it's time to write another letter to the NRL.
The golden try is a good one, but if you're gonna do that, just make it extra time.

If that had been the Broncos losing to Souths the other night I think I would have punched the TV in.

Or just bring back the draw, problem solved.

And LOLZ @ Bill Harrigan's latest suggestion of a 20-40 rule...and Daley taking it further just having it a "40m rule". FFS. The last rule that needs tinkering is the 40-20 rule. Let's get the rest of the **** sorted first!

I also liked Andrew Voss' suggestion yesterday on the Sunday Roast that only a try should win in golden point, not a field goal or penatly goal. If a field goal or penatly goal is scored, it should count towards the teams total, but they still play on 5 mins each way. If no try is scored, then the winner is the one withthe most points, or a draw if they are still all tied up.

Would certainly help stop events like this happenning, even if the on field officials rule on it.
that was my suggestion 12+ months ago! :)

:P

when i saw it on the roast i was like vossy must read BHQ! lol

Haha, pretty sure he's been saying similar for years too. They've had packages with teams taking numerous poor, even pointless attempts at drop goal during ET Draws and saying how much better it'd be if teams just kept playing normal footy. And that Golden Try would help that.

id love it they just took field goals and penalty goals out of extra time altogether. only way to end it is to go 10 mins without scoring and its a draw, or a winner by scoring a try.

or like Rocky said, bring back the draw.

They just won't go back to a draw. It won't happen. But I want 2 changes.

1. Golden Try
2. Games to be worth 4 points. 4 for a regular time win. 3 for a win in extra time. 2 for a draw. 1 for a loss in extra time. 0 for a loss in regular time.

Haven't read the whole thread, but I'll add my $0.02

Reffing is ridiculously inconsistent. These guys all go to the same sessions they should all have the same interpretations - it would be like 2 people going to the same maths teacher and not having the same answer for an equation.

The Luke incident was horse****. Four officials didn't see it and then all of a sudden it's game over. If they slowed down every single tackle in every round to check for high contact half the players in the comp would be on report.

Why must they call every flat pass a forward pass. Ando's pass to put McGuire under the posts was perfect. Do the ref's not believe that a front rower can pass a ball backwards?

Refs don't believe a front rower can pass a ball.

Yep only backs can pass the ball unless it's an offload. fmd.

Worst part was it wasn't even flat - it was CLEARLY backwards!

Ashley Klein = worst ref ever (well, since Russell Smith)

Never liked Klein, that penalty against Hoffman was ridiculous and right up there with calling Marshall's knock on against the Aussies in the WC final a strip.

TERRIBLE decision! It wasn't even a dominant tackle ffs.

I was more concerned about the **** the refs let Manly get away with in the play-the-ball.

No doubt in the world that Melbourne bought it upon themselves, but the refs clearly went into this game with the mentality that they need to crack down on Melbourne's slowing down the play the ball. They got penalised for everything (which is fair enough), but Manly got penalised for nothing. It was a joke.

How good was that game for the Broncos? How many players will be on long suspensions after all that rubbish?
