Well the defence used a point that Montoya made a homophobic remark and he got 4 weeks and so should Leniu. I don't recall Montoya esculating it to the level Leniu had though. Thats what makes it worse IMO, it's one thing in the heat of the game, it's another to carry it off the field like he did and turn it real nasty.

4 weeks it will be, and the Broncos players will feel jerked around by the result and will sort it out themselves on the field.

That is exactly the sort of avoidable circus you would expect from the NRL.

You may well be correct. The NRL aren’t very good at negotiating. Surely if you want 8 weeks, you recommend 12 weeks knowing they’ll compromise somewhat.

Im guessing it is 6 weeks. I find it laughable that he said that he didnt know that the word monkey is derogatory to his culture. I mean cmon. Although he doesnt exactly look like he has many roos in the top paddock.

Can I just add, in cases like these, maybe at least one of the 3 panel members should be indigenous. If for no other reason than the appearance of fairness.

Maybe a Dean Widders, Preston Campbell etc.

Its a workplace harrassment matter. It shouldnt be done by former players at all if we are being honest.

Probably. But no matter who is on the panel, an indigenous person should be included for perspective. It’s not hard to arrange.

It’s less important given his guilt is not in question here. But in other circumstances in a different case it could avoid an awkward outcome or appearance of bias.

Looks pretty well orchestrated. Roosters want 4, NRL “want” 8 so they no worst case scenario is 6 weeks and they seal the deal by hiring a guy to prosecute their case that would make Lionel Hutz blush. Honestly with some of the arguments this clown has made Spencer might get off with a $1000 fine.

It opens up a big can of worms imo. Does it give any player an out if they can just say i didnt mean it to be offensive, or that they didnt know it was racist.

He knew what he was doing, i dont belive he is sorry and all the crap thats come out is the rorters on a charm campaign. HE should get 12 weeks.

I honestly can’t believe the NRL accept he didn’t know it was racist, that is such bullshit and to accept it is so insulting.

Further if they honestly believe he didn’t realise it was racist they should be dropping the case, this makes no sense.
