Lose a backrower in the first 5mins and two of the middle forward rotation players still play sub 40mins... 26mins from Taupau... Smoothy getting 45mins off the bench to cover Patty's minutes at lock.

The pack was dominated when Patty was shifted to the edge... cannot be the plan moving forward with how brittle Piakura is

Walsh does seriously piss miss off at least once per game. The penalty for holding Walker down. What the **** did he think would come from that? Needs to get that shit out if his game before we make him a mill a year player.

Fucking love him still though.

Sydney played great, Brisbane lost their way when Piakura came off and were too busy playing catch up. I thought they did well just to hang in and keep the Roosters to three tries, they were far more dominant than the scoreboard shows.

Herbie, Flegler, Capewell and Palasia were all sorely missed.

Kevvie will need to come up with a different plan for when we lose a back rower ... because Carrigan in the 13 is critical to our style of play. he needs to stay there.

I won't say he was poor on the edge because 15 runs for 148m and 21 tackles says differently.

IMO, Kobe or maybe Willison are the ones we need to get prepared to switch to an edge

I am really not sold on Cobbo in the centres.

I think Jaiyden Hunt has to be in the 17. Piakura was never getting through 80, and that really hurt.

Mam will be better for the run. He looked very short of a gallop.

Willison has to be ahead of Marty and Baker. I’m shocked he wasn’t pickerd.

That’s a fucken shithouse performance shithouse. Nobody excelled, game plan was garbage, we got dominated in every facet. Thats not rust that’s shithouse. My expectation early was that someone was going to beat us early and we were either gonna crumble or barely lose a game from then on. Roosters look far to classy.

I have to say on Kev’s behalf that was piss poor. Second row depth has been the concern all pre-season it doesn’t cut it chucking your most integral player to the edge mid game. Surely he is smarter than that like surely. I said it before but unless he had a genuine back up option on the bench Hunt needed to be there. Not only did he not do that he took the biggest bloke other than Payne off the bench and took Jensen who is a million times better when he starts than off the bench you just changed to much without offering anything. Cobbo was shithouse, our wingers whilst they tried hard were far to small, Reyno had a nothing game. Walsh ran way too wide of the play that turned his game entirely 1D and predictable, took Ezra out of it. We had no line speed, the things go on and on that just weren’t up to scratch that game.

It was always going to be we would wipe them off the park or we would be shithouse. I genuinely think if you even had say Patston out on the edge instead of Carrigan we win that. Just not good enough coaching and team management that. Really piss poor.

I can go endlessly. We are either going to have a really shit year from here or we will near go unbeaten. Roosters were good don’t get me wrong but we were just shit.

One positive was how much effort Jesse and Deine put in endlessly and goal line defence. Although Chooks have never really been all that fluent on the edges always stifled by Teddy.

Walsh was good in patches, Carrigan was taken out of what he does best by moving him to edge back row, but our other big guns, Payne, Arey, Mam and Staggs had no real impact at all. Too many players had no impact and not enough discipline with and without the ball.

At the same time, its only round 1, long way to go but a lot of worrying signs in that display. That back 5 looks very disjointed to me in defence and despite the brillance they can and did produce, i dont think they looked slick in attack either.

What are our options at centre though? We’ve definitely weakened cobbo’s strengths on the wing by moving him though.

Well, unfit and clearly not enough coffe's before the game.

The bad:
  • The team looks unfit.
  • Our back rower depth will become a problem.
  • Ezra was MIA with game management
  • Cobbo - a liability at centre. He is NOT ready to play there. Talented and athletic but completely lacks the footy IQ when under the pump and needs a few more years to even be considered at centre full time. He will hurt us more than he delivers currently in his career.
The Good:
  • Its the first game of the season
  • Have a few options to shuffle the pack
  • Arthars had a great game, and put his foot forward for starting centre.

Pretty disappointing display. It didn't look like we really took the preparation for this game seriously.

Boys were desperate scrambling in defence but looked completely under done if every other aspect.

Back row depth is a concern, letting Capewell go could be a major fark up.

Need a new player who can move to backrow when we are in a Pinch, Carrigan isn't it, it hurts us in the middle too much moving him away from there.

Also Cobbo definitely needs to up his workrate it was very below par.

If we had that sorted I think we would have gotten a result today.
Willison offers this but kevvie went with Marty… stupid call.
