I kind of hope he does, we don't fear anyone anymore. I would love to see us both at full strength (sans Piaks) going at it in round 1. Best two teams of the last three years in an early season epic - sign me up!

Time to do a team list prediction (I know it will be same as the WCC game) but I'd go:

1. Walsh
2. Karapani
3. Staggs
4. Shibasaki
5. Mariner
6. Bunt
7. Reynolds
8. Jensen
9. Mozer
10. Haas
11. Junt
12. Riki
13. Carrigan

14. Mam
15. Willison
16. Talty
17. Francis

18. Anderson
19. Paix

Francis is still 17 so he's ineligible to play.

Couldn't care less if he plays or not.

If he doesn't, we get an easier start to the year and increased chance 2 points first up.

If he does, we get to put 2 in a row on Penrith and watch Walsh outshine the disgustingly overrated Cleary once again. Imagine the NSWRL's tears if they change the entire system to let golden boy play and they still get hammered.

We started the season against these clowns a few years ago without Walsh and still won if I remember correctly.

He'll get the downgrade.

There wouldn't be a genuine court of law that would look at the evidence and downgrade Cleary's tackle. Just no ****ing way. Not that I'm ruling it out mind you, but what little hope of integrity I hope from the NRL, will be gone should he get downgraded.

You actually have "hope of integrity"

Literally nothing about the way this sport is administered even whispers the word integrity to me

Penrith have opted not to have a legal representative for Nathan tonight ... Daddy will represent him instead 😝

The media have already decided that he's getting off, why waste money on a lawyer?

I have to assume Penrith have been given assurance of a downgrade, no way they use daddy for representation or risk 3 games if they don’t know for sure they are getting the downgrade.

I am sure someone “unconnected” to Vlandys has strongly recommended they take their chances.

No decision reported yet ... but

6.50pm: We are back after a 12-minute deliberation.

6.51pm: Nathan Cleary has been successful in his bid to have the high tackle charge downgraded from a Grade 2 charge to a Grade 1. The Panthers halfback will now pay an $1800 fine and is free to play in his side's season opener against Brisbane on March 6.
