The 5/8 choice is questionable. Hoffman is obviously lacking in play making ability. What is just completely retarded is Griffin's selection for front rowers. Last time I checked, the Bulldogs have one of the biggest packs going, so what does he do, he has Hennant and Kennedy, the two heavies front rowers on the bench. Brilliant, just bloody brilliant. Also to have Maranta in the wing... again, well I am once again dumbfounded. Maybe they can start 0-4 and have the coaching staff fired. Worse things could happen. I can't remember seeing a coach play people out of position more than this abortion of a coach.

I agree with Hoffman, but Griffs statements last year and moving him to wing surprises me. I just think Barba to wing would be the biggest waste of all time, esp given our playmaking options. Nines is different, wing made sense given the amount of room and thats the way the games played, give to fast guy on the edge and even then he didnt really star

Barba played wing in the nines because you don't play a fullback in that format. You have your open side wingers act as a quasi fullback.

I'm not criticizing Hoffman anyway, I'm criticizing Griffin.

I don't think this has anything to do with keeping Hoffman happy given up until he was injured, the front runner for the 6 jersey was apparently Kahu. Considering Kahu is only out for a short amount of time, this is a temp thing afaic. That doesn't make it any less retarded though. Pick Niko in the side and the biggest issues I have with the side disappear.....bar 1 Maranta. This guy legit bombs at least 1 try a game and yet continues to be picked. If baffles the mind. Apparently he's a gun FB, ok, really stir things up and give him the 1, Hoff in the 2 and Babs in the 6.....just anywhere but on the fucking wing.

my take on the selected team:

either the gambles pay off and we play some good footy and win games.

they fail and we lose while playing poor footy, leading to Griffins sacking

Simple. Copley goes to right wing and Maranta goes where he belongs -> anywhere but Red Hill!

By the time Hodges will be back either Hoffman will have shown enough to keep him there in which case I'm sure they'll work things out, or Hodges will have been proven right and Hoffman will have been moved...

Yeah i had that hope too that things would be different this year after the failure of last season; new players signed, putting players in their correct position e.g. Thaiday & Hoffman, dropping underperforming players like Maranta; but the team named just smacks of desperation and disorganisation and the comp hasn't even started yet.

Although i hope i am wrong but it seems like the same shit as last year. :s:

Why? He never backed up enough.......couldn't ball play .......and tbh honest, without the sideline to help him, his defence, one on one was vulnerable as well.

Positioning was ok ......and can be ok under the high ball, at times.

Still, he's a much better winger.

That's his best position.

I'm predicting 80% of our attacking last tackle plays to be bomb it and pray for something. The other 20% will be a disorganised attempt at a last tackle play only to find poor service from dummy half, players over running the ball and Hunt getting tackled with the ball before he can get a poor pass away.

Even if we can jag a win, it won't be pretty to watch.

I hope I'm wrong though.
