Round 1 Lineup

I think Kevvie needs to make a hard call and start TPJ off in reserve grade, make him earn his spot back in the team after all of that shit last season. He needs a bit of tough love. He has the potential to be the best player in our team and one of the best players in the comp, but he isn't living up to that.

But it doesn't sound like that's going to happen.

That kind of pre-set idea was one of Seibold's many, many problems. If TPJ trains the house down throughout the off season plus his already received financial discipline, why shouldn't he play round 1?

Horrible idea. He was almost sacked, and copped a huge hit to his back pocket. Punishing the club by not picking best players isn't the solution.

He also spent a few months working a real job.

I disagree ... IMO, he's served his time, no point holding a grudge. time to get him back into the side

Hopefully the bubble shit wont be around and hodges and parker will be free to come and go around the squad

Not sure I agree he's 'served his time' necessarily.

He not only actively checked out on his duties and obligations to his team mates in the toughest circumstances that all NRL players have ever endured personally due to the isolation and bubble, he also did it in a season where his club was in it's most dire need of all hands on deck as we fought to avoid our first wooden spoon. While that was going on and guys were getting their asses handed to them, TPJ was back socialising with his extended family and friends. I guess you could argue he stopped getting paid, but I'm not sure how much that would have impacted him in those circumstances, if at all.

In my opinion, sitting out 2020 was certainly not the punishment it might have been in other seasons and I'm hardly prepared to say that this alone would encourage him to make things up to the club. I do hope I'm wrong though.

That said, Kevvie simply doesn't have the luxury of sitting out a guy of TPJ's calibre given how direly our roster is in need of whatever strike weapons we can muster. So whether he deserves it or not, whether he's been sufficiently punished or not, Kevvie simply has to bring him back into the fold and make the best of him now. The success of both their careers long term may actually depend on it.

Heard Kevvie on triple m a few weeks back saying that he's been in talks with getting Parker back on the coaching staff.

It was an interview with Kevvie so not from Dobbo... he also said we will look at night training given 90% of our games are night time

If this is honestly the first time anyone's looked into this then frankly I'm stunned, and Kevvie deserves a massive pat on the back.

Based on performances, Isaako is a better option at fullback than Niu. Plus, he's our best goal kicker and is pretty clutch with his field goals. He's more likely to play fullback.

Macca was brought back to give this side more experience, he's not playing reserve grade. He'll be starting 9.

Carrigan isn't playing prop.

Kevin Walters is a fan of Oates in the backrow and considering our lack of depth in that position and the fact that we've signed Mead and Copley, there's a good chance Walters will move him there. Walters was even considering picking him in the QLD side for that reason.
No he wasn’t considering picking him at second row he said I’m not picking you on the wing if you think your a second rower... very different to actually picking him... plus anyone with half a brain can realise that Oates is the shittest back rower we have.... I’d take Wayne in the back row over Oates

I thought he should have been sacked, only a board that takes months to muster any courage or alignment saved him, that and Darren Everywhere I think.

Happy for him to be talked up and start as we have this wonderful thing with KW.. A clean slate, a fresh start where players can start again with no baggage from the previous year.

I felt the same way about Pies reign, until my optimism was mercilessly and repeatedly beaten down, week after horrible week where not only did I have to endure the insipid performances, I was at the same time being told just how much improvement was happening.. Causing me to question my grip on reality.

No more! Bring on the Kevolution! TPJ welcome to start and Lodge can be captain. 2021.. best year ever :)

I'm also not saying TPJ should DEFINITELY start either. I am saying IF he has trained the house down after his sanctions, there is no reason whatsoever to stand him down round 1. In fact, it would send a bad message to him and his teammates that like with Seibold, you are already pre-judged. If he HASN'T trained the house down, then by all means dump him. I am just saying pre-judging is a bad and corrosive stance.

Could never understand why they don’t train more under lights. Even country players do it considering most have jobs to go to.

Training under lights with soapy footy with beats blaring going at 115% letsgooo
