Round 1 Lineup

Meh. I love how this forum loves to chuckle at the media estimations when it suits them, then treat them as gospel when it suits their arguments. Would not have taken much money at all to lure them away from this dropkick club. Probably close to what he was already on.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

In terms of forwards, I’d rank them this way:

1. JT2
2. Kikau
3. Murray, Crichton, Cordner, Frizell when switched on, Saifiti, Tino, Bromwich, Fifita

So I have him top tier but under JT2 and Kikau. He still has a massive upside though does Fifita.
Why Kikau if you don't mind me asking? I honestly believe he was a big beneficiary from the Panthers form as a whole. Honest to god in a year you all said Fifita was lazy and has poor defence, I'm taking him over Kikau every day of the week. theshed just reminded me I'd have Papalii in to replace him with Kikau out of that list.

Disagree, the money is a bonus. Broncos are a shambles for 3 years straight. If I was a player with serious ambitions I’d want out too.

What ambitions might they be for dear David? Because he was getting rep honours at the broncos and was being talked about as future captain at one stage. I guess that leaves a premiership and a pay day. I think we know what he chose.

hopefully we don’t re-sign any of our current crop then, apart from patty, Staggs, and Turpin. Also Lodge and Dearden. The rest can **** off if that’s the standard. Hopefully they are all shown the door If that’s your thoughts. Complete clean out needed at the broncs.

Not quite.

Um have u seen the titans in the last ... I don't know forever. Had there best yr in ages and still didn't make the 8. To call broncos a shambles for the last 3 years is a joke , last year definitely.
Disagree.

He did leave for money, otherwise it wouldn't have taken 3 or 4 separate attempts bidding against your own self to sign him.
He's got all the potential in the world though, amazing balance for his strength and size, great acceleration etc. Titans definitely look the better team than the Broncs this year on paper.
When it's your job and you've competing suitors in a bidding war AND your role is basically unchanged most are likely to take the higher wage. In his case the wage hike was truly massive and he gets to live in the same place as he always has (if he chooses to) it's totally understandable. I'm sure I'd have done exactly the same thing.

I kind of did myself on a much smaller scale although I did have to move house. I received a chance to double my previous years wage and eagerly took it with both hands. Like Fifita it turned out to be even more than double my previous p/a.

In Fifita's case he doubtless took the cash but the chance to train in a ultra modern environment, go for a surf or swim, watch magnificent half naked women and play under an exciting young coach who is hitting all the right notes made his decision so so much easier.

I wish him well except for when he plays the Broncos.

Maori All Stars coach David Kidwell says Issac Luke has been called into his squad following the Victoria lockdown:

"It’s an opportunity to impress his new coach Kevin Walters. We’re going to have to rely on his experience and darts out of dummy half. We need the best version of Issac Luke to come into camp in North Queensland and give it his best shot. I know how much this jersey means to Issac and he loves representing his people back home as a proud indigenous Maori.”

Didn't mean to derail the thread with a massive barney over David Fifita. Let me just sum up everyone's feelings so we can move on:

1. Smart money says David Fifta is the brightest forward talent in the NRL, emerging or otherwise, but disgruntled fans of his previous club disagree.
2. Everything’s all rosy at the broncs, 2021 is our year for sure. (credit @tommy ).

Nah, more like:
1. David Fifita is a huge talent but can he live up to his ridiculous price tag.
2. Broncos had worst season in their history because of a number of issues including huge injury list. Now moving forward after signing one of the best CEO's in the game and a club legend as coach who is implementing structures of the broncos of old. Also moving on some dead wood and building a war chest for a big play in the market of 2022.

The only way we go as bad as we did last year is if Kevvie is even worse at coaching these guys than Seibold was and we have another shocking year with regards to injuries. But I think a team of Kevin Walters, Terry Matterson and John Cartwright seems more formidable than Anthony Seibold, Ben Cross and Peter Gentle. Cartwright even got the Titans to the finals twice, a feat that may never be repeated!

I like the optimism, and yes the coaching team is far, far better now, but the state of the squad and our cap is a big monkey on our backs.
