Round 1 Lineup

He could probably play Fullback, but replacing him at 7 with Croft is the major hole your making for yourself.

Dearden is good and thankfully to his immense talent he doesn't embarrass himself in 1st grade but we have to remember due to our shockingly bad squad we are putting him into first grade well before most teams would do it, he has Rep level half written all over him but I think he probably needs to beat teams to submission in QLD Cup to get the confidence to develop into what he could be.

When you see spine players break into the scene with an amazing rookie season they are generally 21-23 years old, Dearden has played in 2 seasons now and he is still only 19.
Disagree on the Croft assessment. I actually think he's a fair player - he's like hunt but with upsides. So kevvie may go that way in the end, never know!

What I can say about Croft is he's highly competitive and passionate. That's what you want on the field.

He also had a great combination with Billy Walters at Easts tigers a few years back.

15. Oates
16. Flegler
17. Asiata

This is what I would be rolling with Round 1 if I were Kev. Clearly our backline is a huge concern, defensively in particular. Isaako at fullback isn't ideal either but we have little choice. Considering how weak we are in the 1 thru 5, I would be considering carrying a spare back on the bench to keep our options open if someone is proving too ineffective to put up with. I guess Oates can fill that role as well but personally I wouldn't be putting him within a kilometer of the wing spot from this point onward. He sinks or swims at second row.

That being said, there is absolutely zero reason why this pack can't match it with the very best in the comp, but we were saying that last off season as well and we all know how that turned out. People are sure to raise their eyebrows at the C next to Lodge, but at this point we may as well wing it with the captaincy. I don't believe Glenn is up to the job judging by last season and 2021 is undoubtedly his last year with us anyway, Carrigan is too young and needs to develop his game without extra pressure and Milford is definitely not leadership material. That leaves Lodge, who while he clearly isn't the most ideal option in terms of off field criticism (**** them anyway), he is our only feasible option left if you rule out the others mentioned.

In 15 years there will be a bronze statue outside of suncorp of multi-premiership winning bronco halfback Thomas Dearden. You can take that to the bank.
Is that thomas dearden or thomas dearden jnr

I’ve been seeing rumours that a lot of players don’t like Lodge. He rubs teammates the wrong way and is one of the toxic players within the group.

Maybe one of the boys more in the know can comment on if it has any truth to it.

But from what I’ve seen of the group publicly I also think Lodge has shown the most leadership potential.

He doesn't come across as an overly likeable bloke.

Maybe he tells them how it really is and they don't like it ?

I can't see the upsides over Hunt at all, I already had question marks over him when he was at Storm as he seemed to not have his head in the game at times. But his complete inability to tackle is a major drawback for me, that is one area where I think Hunt is probably one of the best halves for.

I think you mean if you were coach. . Not if you were kevvie.

Not sure but the psycho that she dated is hopefully out of the club
He's not ... he's here to stay ... deal with it.

We don't need a pack of choir boys unless we want them to be run over the top of every week.

Besides, he hasn't put a foot wrong in 6 bloody years I hope you've never made a mistake for people to hold over you for the rest of your life

I've never heard anything that he doesnt get along with people. He was popular with everyone at Redcliffe and always had plenty of time for the fans. All the blokes i know personally who played with him at the Broncos and at Redcliffe didnt have any issue with him. I've met him plenty of times and he comes across as a fairly quiet sort of bloke.

People on here dragging up something that happened over 5 years ago and newspaper articles from 2 years ago about an ex girlfriend from way in the past to suit their sad little agenda against him is fairly sad. He isnt the same bloke as he was then and i dont think some people can accept it.
