Dunno about the last couple of spots and after not seeing the trials I suppose something like Setu, Lingwoodock and Gillet will probably take them. Sims and Thaiday would spend a bit of time up front also.

I really enjoy the thought of Te'o playing in the centres, if I recall correctly he started to be pretty devastating running wide on the right hand side near the seasons end.

I liked the idea of Te'o running wide too until i watched an interview with Te'o in a few weeks ago. He said he would play 20 or so mins in the centres if Ivan needs him to during a game but he really didn't sound happy about the thought of play in the centres full time while Hodgo was out. He said he much preferred the 'crash and bash' style in the forwards and didn't sound too confident about playing in the centres at all. In my opinion I wouldn't chuck someone in a position that they weren't confident in as it could end out really ugly.

Therefore I would have Glenn in the centres and move Te'o into the second row. I would definitely have Sims playing in the front row this year full time. Gillett can come onto the bench and play a utility role, similar to Glenn in 2009.

Thoughts?

Not to me... I must admit i haven't seen the trials or how hes been training but from what i have read it seems that he hasn't done anything to prove that he should be picked above the others. I would like him to start in the QLD Cup and prove himself first.

Michaels will be playing Round 1.

I think that is an excellent decision if Henjak picks him!

I bet you wouldn't be saying that if it was at Kemp's expense [icon_wink

Obvisouly, but Michaels in the centres makes sense to me![/quote:2andxzrc]

In the centres, not so sure about that, wing maybe but I would need to be convinced his defence has improved dramatically compared to last season before I would consider putting him back there, I agree with Lyn he belongs in the Queensland Cup and needs to work his way back in, even with Hodges and Yow Yeh out and Hunt gone theres still too much talent in the backs that IMO deserves to be there ahead of him.

I don't think we have as much talent in the centres as we do on the wing or at fullback. I'd prefer to not have Glenn in the centres so hence the preference for Michaels in the centres. I would not mind to give Beale a crack though.

I'd be sad because IMO we have better options than him, I saw him play vs Canberra and he did **** all and from what I've heard from the other trials he didn't do much in them either. We have other players (eg Beale) who deserve a shot before him. That is if we aren't gonna play Glenn in the centers.

I think Glenn just plays in the centres while Hodges and Yow Yeh are out. Otherwise we are looking at a very inexperienced backline. Originally I was a huge campaigner for him playing in the back row but with these injuries we need experience to keep our composure and I think Glenn is the man for the job. Yes, Michaels has more NRL experience than Glenn, but Michaels is just crap!

Wait...

Someone saying we need experience in the back line :O. YAY finally its not all about the forwards :P

Michaels 09 was indeed crap yes. However we have seen in 08 what he can do. Its in there somewhere.

Exactly we know he can play so give him a crack early rather than later.. icon_thumbs_u

To be honest he did some good things in 2008 but he wasn't as great as you make him out to be and most of that was done out on the wing, not in the centres where clearly he struggled last season and hasn't done anything in the offseason to show his ready for a return to the NRL in that position. I'm not convinced rushing him back to the centres into the NRL is the best course of action not just for the Broncos side but for himself, he would be much better off in the Queensland Cup regaining confidence he has lost and then returning when he is ready, rather then when he isn't.

he spent the last half of least season in QCup regaining confidence. If he still lacks it on Friday night then release him but his in the Top25 and counts on our cap so there for needs to be thrown in the deep end Round 1. if he sinks by round 5 release him. He can then regain confidence under another clubs Cap.

That doesn't mean Michaels is ready nor should he be selected in the NRL side just because his in the salary cap, we have had other players who have been in similar situations who didn't even see time or very little time in the NRL during their time at the club. Michaels demonstrated little during the preseason that he is ready for a return and thats hardly a convincing arguement to rushing him back into the NRL into a position his clearly struggled previously, Glenn has demonstrated that he is a much better option in the centres for the side and with the depth we have available in the backrow its hardly going to hurt the forwards.

I'd rather not take the punt on him in round 1. We need to win in round 1 and gain as much confidence as possible for the season.

If Michaels gets dropped after 1 game, how will that do any good to his confidence?
