POST GAME [Round 10, 2022] Sea Eagles vs Broncos

An overlooked effort play by hetherington before cobbo's 2nd try was when carrigan took the hit up the play before and hetherington was tearing up beside him in support and hit a gap but didn't get the pass.

Instead of ruminating on a missed opportunity, he quickly got back in the attacking line and got the ball from paix before passing it to reynolds who kicked it to cobbo.

That short 10 seconds showed everything about hetherington. He is a player who does the 1 percenters (support play, efforts to put himself in the right position, work ethic). He has quickly become a favourite.
I’m noticing paix doing a similar thing. Once he’s passed it from dummy half he’s sprinting over to where the ruck is looking for an offload or quick play the ball.

Cobbo's intercept shouldn't have been green lit, he was never onside. Loved it but it wasn't a fair try.

Had a similar thought as it happened actually, but the ref was watching the line, had a fair view of the onside line and must have deemed that he sufficiently made the line (I don't think he quite did) and allowed the play to go on. Second to that, the bunker also had a following opportunity to review the try, but I'm not sure on their ability to rule on this kind of onside...surely it must be possible. However, then we might be posed with the question of whether it would be entertaining in this instance to call a play back so far after such an exciting event. Who knows? He got pretty close to onside...

And now Kev begins his own chapter in the Broncos' history books as a coach. The 38-0 winning margin surpasses the previous record score against Manly since the 44-10 defeat of them in our very first game back in 1988 at Lang Park. They can't take that away from you Kevvie!

He couldn't have done it without his son pulling off that try saving tackle to hold Tommy Tutbo up as he went into our in-goal in search of a try.

What a great team effort and what a magic performance from our own little wizard, Adam Reynolds.

The rain is still falling in Brisbane this morning, what a great excuse to re-watch last night's game while waiting to see how Souths go at 3 o'clock today minus OUR 2022's Dally M winning halfback. :rofl

This IS a kind of magic.

I was thinking to myself as I sat at the game.. wouldn't it be nice to come out roaring, that would really set the tone for 40 thousand screaming fans, sure enough.. Manly make a meal of the kick, Reynolds chips it out to Cobbo who goes over basically untouched.

I thought the tactic to Cobbo was brilliant, we've got one of the most destructive centres in the NRL on his inside, teams are ganging Kotoni which leaves a gap somewhere else, maybe against Newcastle the winger holds his wing and that presents Kotoni with some 1 on 1 opportunities, you definitely wouldn't be rushing in off your wing if you were the opponent after watching that game.

Highest metres from Manly forwards, Tapau and Olakauatu on 83/74 respectively. Aloiai 56m, Bull, Jurbo, and Keppie, 30m or less.

Jensen 18/160m, Carrigan 20/168m, Haas 17/147m, Flegler 16/132m. Hitups/metres.

That's total dominance in the forwards that allowed Reynolds to work his absolute magic.
What were Riki’s metres?

It's amazing what a change in scenery has done for Reynolds. It has completely reinvigorated him and has challenged him to take his game to another level, and wow, hasn't he responded well to the challenge.

He has always had all the skills in the world, but given that be has never been a selfish personality, he usually played the percentages at Souths. Often a young, skillful playmaker coming through will opt for the highlight reel plays, but Reynolds only did what the team required. With the all the big money superstars he's played with throughout his career at Souths, he sort of shelved the rest of his attacking game so that those other players could shine.

At Souths, his role was so well defined and it mostly revolved around leading the team around and getting them into the strike zone so that Cook, Latrell, and Walker could lead the attack. Reynolds being the ultimate team man, rarely deviated from this. Each and every game was essentially the same, a solid 7 out of 10. His performance rarely dropped below that, but also rarely went above that. That's what was required of him for the sake of the team, and that's what he would deliver.

But now at the Broncos, finally he is the main man, and it's almost as if the shackles have been removed. For the first time in a long time, he is playing with unrestricted freedom. Game by game he is slowly showcasing every bit of hidden skill he has. The exciting thing is, this is just the beginning for him. He will become the most influential halfback in the game, if he is not so already. He is absolutely relishing being captain and he realises this young team look to him for inspiration. He is delivering more than what anyone had ever imagined.

At this rate, I wouldn't be opposed to him getting a statue at Suncorp Stadium. Brisbane Broncos legend Adam Reynolds.

Second to that, the bunker also had a following opportunity to review the try, but I'm not sure on their ability to rule on this kind of onside...surely it must be possible.

Yes, they can rule on that.

That’s just the thing though, you (almost) have to feel bad for Souths because at this point we’re seeing a level of performance that even they could be forgiven for not realising Reynolds had in him at this point in his career. He’s gone to another level in 2022 and I’d argue virtually no one could have seen that coming.

If I was Fittler I certainly wouldn’t be changing a winning formula but the truth is Reynolds has Cleary pretty comfortably covered on form at this point.
I was going to mention that I hoped Cleary stayed healthy through the SOS as Reynolds is likely next man up at this point. We need him more than QLD needs Cleary out.
