POST GAME [Round 10, 2026] - Broncos vs Sea Eagles

Something has to be said for our starts. Every week we give away a heap of early 6 agains and/or penalties.
Starting every game on the back foot mentally takes its toll. I think this is a big area we need to assess.
Tonight kick off, they got the ball. Six again, six again, penalty, try, all within 3:15.
Similar to what happened last week. It’s just not good enough.

Madge looked pretty pissed in the press conference and pulled it up short.

And so he should after that effort, I believe he does have to take some of the blame with his selections this week tho.

I'd be going with Willison and Patty up front and play Rogers at lock.

Hunt should have been playing off the bench and Duffy at 7. P Riki had much more impact coming off the bench he shouldn't have been starting.

I questioned Gos at prop, and X at 2nd row a couple weeks ago...

Big test for Madges coaching abilities next week with our go forward, and how he addresses it.

Our backs are being asked too much of. If we can't go forward with power, we need to look at our spines involvement in assisting that; forwards looking to offload, speed that we the ruck, short passes. The hit out in the middle is killing us; butter knife to a gun fight.

Big test for Madge in finding a way get territory.

I know we have so many injuries out that you just try to make do, but Willison being in the second row the last few games while we are getting dominated in the middle is the first real blemish on Madge’s stint.

Idiotic

Yeah, Gosiewski struggled in the back row but then he's also not doing much in the front row outside his first game there, better to move him back if he has to play somewhere. The back row depth we've been concerned about for a few years is really showing now.

We need arey back just for the sake of not having patty as captain. It’s just not his thing.
It’s worrying moving forward. I feel like there is no leader in this side.
Tbh Walsh is probably the only one that you can say every week lives and dies by the performance.
Might seem crazy but he is probably the leader out there, look at last week. Look at tonight, they all just look to him to try and save them.
I don’t think he needs the captaincy as it might shackle him for whatever reason but he for mine is our leader most weeks when Reyno isn’t out there.

When the boys were bunched behind the post while Siosiua was being attended to on the ground, and the camera showed them all quietly waiting and our captain with his back to them just staring glumly toward the medical response - I knew we weren’t going to put up a fight.

Imagine any of the games great captains not using that break to rev his team up and reset. For all he was off the field, can you imagine the passion Sam Burgess would have been spewing to his team in that moment.

The complete lack of any threat out of dummy half was exposed again, we were up against it already with a front row of Talty & Gos, but paix did them no favours just shovelling laboured passes to them to get picked off by a rushing defence. We need more than just a bloke that will tackle for 80mins, and maybe if he did offer more he wouldn’t need to be tackling soo much.

It’s a big issue next season. I can’t see Walsh being a captain either. His brain is running on overdrive as it is. The only other option is Kotoni…

We'll be fine.

Just gotta get through this period as best we can until we start getting troops back. But one change we can make is stop using Willison on the ****ing edge. He is not a backrower. He never will be a backrower and we're weaker up front because of it.

I think next week will tell a lot. I feel this was a bit of a mulligan. We’ve been coping well for weeks but losing our only two good backs not named Walsh really hurt tonight. That won’t be addressed next week either unfortunately.

There really isn’t much to look forward to next week either but I am confident tonight will hurt those boys. This was not even close to first grade standard but with so many not first grade standard players out there, it isn’t surprising.

Unfortunately the regulars were all off too. We desperately need another second rower and middle for next year and with two clubs coming in, I don’t know how we find them.

Agree with @Cult . Carrigan has to play down the middle and forget about ball playing for now.
It's more important to get us on the front foot and give our halves a chance.
