Round 10 Discussion

It poses the question of how teams can benefit from foul play. I'd like to see the count for exactly how many players went off for concussion tests after being hit high by Souths. The Eels have been stuffed since the 55th minute because they've had one guy on the bench most of the night.

I hope we can get GI. I have never believed he was finished tbh. I think he would get a new lease on his football coming to us and playing left center.

At 20-6, it seemed as if the Eels bottled it. They kept playing away from Semi Radradra, their most dangerous playing in favour of lesser options. I'm baffled by their thought process, maybe they thought it'd be too telegraphed? They controlled the game nicely, but they played around with the Rabbitohs and when you're giving GI an opportunity up against Toutai and Gutherson you're just asking for trouble.

Souths were gutsy, but they're not out of the woodwork just yet. When you're winning games based on strips and streaky offloads, it's only a matter of time before it all backfires. The week off did them the world of good, but I look at players like Brown, Carter etc. and they just seem like accidents waiting to happen.

I'm saying the last pass was at least a metre forward. Keary was about a metre infront of Goodwin and the ball hit him side-on...I'm glad the refs didn't call it because of the GI magic...but still.

The pass to Keary was no more forward than the one to Radradra on pretty much the same piece of grass.

True, I was grabbing dinner when Semi grabbed his second.

Perhaps the referees felt as if the pass floated forward in that instance? The hard camera isn't conclusive, but Jennings hands don't appear to be pointed forward which helps their case.

Meanwhile the Goodwin pass is a lot more cut and dry. It was actually a lot worse on replay, as the ball is thrown infront of Keary so he can run onto it.

Gosh that was gutsy from Souths they should never have won that game. Credit to them for getting out of jail like that.

Rabbits have been all kinds of grubby. They've out-grubbed Beau Scott. Particularly Brown & Carter. But the whole team have gone back to their storm-esque wrestling, holding down, and peeling off one-by-one.

Meh. Seeing Beau Scott lose is always worth it though.

What exactly did Beau Scott ever do that was satanic?

Beau Scott has been giving out cheap shots since his first game of Red Rover in kindy.

Anyone see Corey Norman's post match chat last night? I caught it at the end of the foxsports late night replay and did a double take.. Almost had to hit the info button on the remote to make sure I was watching the game where the Eels had just let a 20-6 lead slip after the most tumultuous fortnight in their history and not some game they'd just won 40-nil.. Because it looked much like the latter scenario from watching Corey's chipper interview ...

I realise that players / coaches ect need to keep things on an even keel emotionally over the course of such a demanding campaign (as opposed to us fans!) but surely the gut wrenching, crushing events of the past few days and then again in the last bit of that game had to bring even the most stoic of characters to their knees, even if just for a few hours last night..

Ive admired a lot of what Norman had done this season in particular but that interview last night just reminded me of the 'tin man' performances he put up during the latter stages of his time at the Broncos

I seriously want to know if the NRL have 2 sets of rules, one for the superstars and one for the toilers and battlers. How was GI not put on report for this? I personally think that they are just to scared to do anything to the superstars because they are the poster boys and they think they are perfect.

I went to bed when the score was 20-6. I can't believe the Eels lost. That is their season over. I expect them to be rabble for the rest of the season now.

If Gallens wasn't put on report, that was never going to be.

Not first grade related, but the NYC Panthers just defeated the NYC Warriors 74-10, Nathan Cleary - 26 points, a try and 11/13 goals.

You would think judging by that scoreline that the Penrith Panthers were the Harlem Globetrotters of the NYC, but it really isn't the case. Since Ciraldo took over, Penrith are one of the few teams that value the basic virtues of the game and as a result they're able to put other teams to the sword.

The amazing thing last year was that they never had a concrete 17. Guys like Cleary would star in one match and then would have to fulfill his Schoolboy duties forcing another player to step up and they wouldn't miss a beat.

On the other hand, to have 74 points put on you is a massive concern. Warriors were already doing it tough at 3-6, to go 3-7 on that note just about puts them out of contention. It wouldn't surprise me to see them miss their first NYC finals this year. The losses of Hingano and Abbey without any suitable replacements has hurt their chances significantly.
