I thought it was a crap game. Sorry, but on that performance, both the Cowboys and the Storm would beat us easily. Take Milford out of this team and we are sod ordinary.

Why did we sign Roberts?
I'll concede it was far from the show I'd hoped for. That said, did you watch the opener? Neither Cowgirls nor Storm set the world on fire.....

i think herman ended up with over 100 metres tonight, he is starting to look really comfortable in the top grade.

Are you serious? If that's true he did it with only a few carries. He didn't seem to have the ball in hand that much.

Milford - 12 runs, 105 metres, 4 tackle breaks, 3 offloads, 3 line break assists, 2 line breaks, 1 try assist, 2 tries.

I dunno how this guy can get much better.

The old adage of you only can beat what's in front of you comes to hand
and take one player out of every team and you find they will struggle
take smith out of the storm, Thurston out of the Cowboys and yeah they are both ordinary

If Milf keeps going the way he has improved over the last 12 months he will probably be the broncos best ever player.

he doesnt have a 6 playing in his team to help steer the attack and his forwards are not up to scratch either. i thought he tried his arse off tonight but had bugger all support.
He's definitely not even close to justifying his pay cheque but I agree, this is a huge reason why.

I'm sure people recall Hunt struggled at times when paired with Hoffman. DCE is an easy mark for the defence when his partner offers so very little. Lyon is done at the end of this season. Push Walker out to the centres, buy a real half.

Bit of a dour game, but Broncos didn't even need to click into top gear.

I don't have a problem with it. I think they just saw they didn't need to go all out and decided to take it easy. They have some tough games coming up and the last thing they need is to start burning out.

They lift when they need to.. They have shown that all year, except for the Panthers game.

May not have been quite as slick as we wanted, but definitely some really positive signs . Boyd is starting to be a weapon ,Hunt is back in the groove , Milford another super performance and the young forwards Wallace,Offa and co are playing with more confidence every week. Unlike the last few years , pre WB, I am more confident we can take it to the next level come the business end of the season.

Tapau should face a lengthy stint on the sideline...he should have quite frankly been binned. He narrowly missed Roberts head with the punch. Overall, not a bad performance by the boys, we did it easily and Manly never looked it in it - we haven't hit our ceiling yet. We played at their level for most of the game which was a tad frustrating imo, but it kind of looked like we held back for that one. Nikorima looked really sharp tonight as did Boyd with a try and try assist.

Has Kahu taken over the kicking for good?

Anthony Milford dazzles in the double-header, another frosty reception for Cherry-Evans, footy fans vote with their feet and Corey Parker's rare Fantasy shocker.

Milford's thrill-a-minute performance

It is one thing to set up tries for your teammates; it's another thing to score plenty yourself. If you happen to be able to do both then your name is Anthony Milford and you are the hottest player in the competition today.

It is incredible to watch someone so energetic also be so hypnotic as defenders are left clutching at thin air where they were convinced he once was. His ever-burgeoning combination with halves partner Ben Hunt extended Brisbane's lead to 12 after 13 minutes and he provided the pass – and the space – for Sam Thaiday to score a try he will be talking about for the rest of his career midway through the second half.

He scored two tries to take his tally for the season to 10, ran for 185m, had three line-breaks, four tackle busts and three offloads but that doesn't do him justice. Something happens every time he touches the ball and even the Manly fans in the crowd had to simply stand and applaud.

Cherry-Evans harshly treated

Not only was Daly Cherry-Evans greeted by a chorus of boos from overly vociferous Broncos fans but even the match officials were making life tough for him. With his side battling to keep pace with the Broncos after conceding two early tries Cherry-Evans fired a superb pass to winger Matthew Wright seven minutes from half-time only for the officials to rule it forward. Sometimes the skills of our best players are really too good for everyone.

Cherry-Evans was troubled by an ankle injury midway through the second half but battled on bravely as the Broncos hit top gear and will have to wait until at least Origin II to hear the cheers from a Queensland crowd.

Event football a winner for all concerned

The atmosphere around Suncorp Stadium in the hours leading up to Saturday night's historic double-header was comparable only to an Origin match or grand final and reaffirmed the opportunities to make regular rounds of the Telstra Premiership into events that all footy fans feel compelled to attend.

Jerseys from almost every team in the NRL were among the crowd of 52,347 who revelled in a double-dose of NRL action and must surely have given Sydney clubs cause to consider whether they could produce something similar at ANZ Stadium.

As someone who attended a double-header between St George Illawarra and Parramatta and Manly and Newcastle at the opening of the then Olympic Stadium that attracted 104,583, a festival of football is an experience to savour.

We may not have the capacity – or inclination – to go down the English Super League's line of a 'Magic Weekend' but we should certainly be exploring ways to create occasions such as we witnessed on Saturday night.

Downside to Taupau's aggression

Just as they are trying to keep pace with the premiership top eight the Sea Eagles are facing the prospect of being without Martin Taupau again after the Kiwi back-rower was placed on report for a lifting tackle on Broncos opposite Matt Gillett late in the second half.

Suspended for a week earlier this season for a high tackle on Cronulla five-eighth Jack Bird, Taupau and Gillett were involved in a minor scuffle and then minutes later Taupau upended Gillett well after he had passed the ball and will no doubt come under the notice of the match review committee in the next 24 hours.

Corey Parker's Fantasy bust

He's the Fantasy Superman who captains a large chunk of NRL Fantasy teams but Corey Parker threw the competition into chaos with an uncustomary low-scoring performance on Saturday night. Parker handed the goal-kicking duties to Jordan Kahu who obliged with five goals from six attempts and despite running for 129 metres and making 19 tackles he amassed only 26 points (provisional), less than half his season average.

After a 30-6 win it won't matter to Parker but there are thousands of Fantasy coaches wondering where it went wrong.

I see Wallace getting some negative comments for his drop ball. I thought he played really well and got a nice offload. Even notice some great tackles.

He really stood out to me tonight.

One point near 70 odd minutes he made three big tackles in a row, two of which chasing hard out of marker. Really good stuff from the young bloke.

He messed up on basically his first touch. He's not a first grade quality player, not by any stretch, he's depth and that's all he is. The sooner Macca is back the better.

He played the first 20, Niko came on and played the rest of the came, and in the last 20 Waddell came back on to Give Thaiday a break I believe, by that point we couldn't lose it anyway. I hope Macca is back for the Cowboys game.

Watched the game on Fox Sports. Waddell is absolute terrible at hooker. Pointing and facing the way he would eventually pass & slow play from dummy half. The defense was sliding WAY before he passed as everybody knew which way he going!

At least Kodi and Macca make the defense second guess which way the play will go-Waddell needs to go.
