POST GAME [Round 11, 2023] Broncos vs Storm

After last night’s game I strongly believe that we need to go back to having 2 referees on field. The bunker experiment has largely failed as it is only useful if there is clear vision of what’s happened.

Besides having all the touch judges, “amazing” technology and a gazillion eyes and cameras watching, what’s the harm in having another set of eyes that can properly police the ruck?

Missed the second half but from what I could tell, Melbourne had consistently better line speed than us. Some will say they were offside and/or assisted by the refs but I think they are just coached better. Our defence has been shit lately and that's what lost us the game.
Conceded 2 tries while we had 12 players. Only lost by 8 without our main kicker and playmaker. I think our defence was pretty good.

We got 60 put on us last year by this team...

Problem is there doesn't seem to be enough quality refs to put ONE decent one on the paddock each game each weekend, let alone two. When Klein and the merkin we had lastnight are still getting games week in week out......

Once again....the 6 again rule

has fucked another game. How can one side get a 6-1 count against them?

That rule is the biggest blight on the game of RL since Ken Arthurson.

That and the sin bins aside......losing Arey....etc etc
There are plenty good signs from the team. We are in this up to our ears this year.

We are still pushing passes and making errors that are killing us. Herbie's pass into the grandstand after making a break on the 2nd tackle is but one example of that....
Reece trying to scoop up the ball after a fumble.... at a million miles an hour is another. We were in our own 20m. Just dive on it for ***** sake.

The exuberance of youth....has got to be reigned in a touch.

Anyway....plenty of games left to play and we're sitting in a great spot on the ladder. Lots to still like about us.

So I guess he was pushed out so Fox can have their echo chamber.

There seems to be a fair bit of drama at Fox behind the scenes, Cronk alluded to it on the MJ podcast, jokingly but you can see the tension he has with Anasta for example.

I think that's the closest I've seen a Broncos coach cone to attacking officials in a post match presser.

I liked this line.

"We had 3 sin binnings tonight, were they fair sin binnings... I won't comment, because my contract isn't big enough to pay the fine "
Yup, I loved this when Kev said it too.
We all know (at least me) Kev to be a jovial only person all along but never seemed someone to call out refs for their zstoopidness. He maybe a hard nosed guy behind the walls & @training.

I love this from Kev. We finally had our complete coach who squares up with NSWRL when the need be.

I would like the club to cover whatever moronic fines NSWRL scums comes up with.
If the club can’t, I would chip in for #GoFundKev.

On face value Kev and the journos in the press conference were mostly concerned about Carrigan's "hip drop", ignoring the farcical rulings that went on throughout the game.

BUT, Kev knows. The journos pointed out the 6-agains were 6-1, and, like a doddery old man, Kev says "to us or them???", as if he was unaware. Yet, not long after, he mentions that the Storm got the first 5 ruck infringement calls. He knows, he fucking knows the bullshit that is going on. Like he says, there is stuff that the team needs to work on, and that's what we'll do. But behind the scenes I get the feeling that he, like us, is fed up of this bullshit. "Look out", he said, when we have our shit sorted. Let's just hope that there is a proper push behind the scenes to bring parity back in to these games.

Storm were farking moving up before the ball was even on the ground at times because their fricken markers still had hands all over the ball while we were trying to play it for fark sake.
Exactly, this. I was wondering all game when would the red head ref pickup on this but never the case to be. On the contrary, he’s all for calling out 6 agains on the 4th or 5th tackle against us.

Go suck those racing hounds balls PVL. You single handedly ruined the game. You retard scum.

What shits me the most is that the 'neutral' commentators said nothing about Hughes' dog shot and although they did unanimously agree that Pat's 'hip drop' was anything but, I never heard any of them castigate that cheating prick NAS for play acting. I mean, Pat never even touched his ankle when you watch it again. Why was this soccer-like feigning allowed to go on without a single word from ex-players? The whole spectacle of the game is ruined and the optics for everyone else (Sydney fans included) is laid bare. Shitfuckery like this is killing our game.

If that was a Bronco it would have been played and re-played and would be the talking point all weekend. Instead all we got was a huge wall of silence.

Some of these ex-players are (intentionally or not) killing the game by running an agenda for a few pieces of silver. I'm looking at you Slater and Johns!! You ought to be embarrassed for not calling that sort of play-acting out for what it truly is.

Watching the game it's like the Storm have their own rules for ruck infringments.

It's insanely frustrating to watch, and it's probably worth the Broncos time to invest money into analyzing what they got away with and what we didn't.

Our only 6-again came in the 72 minute and I am pretty sure that it was seconds before Paix threw his wayward pass. Can they go back for this?

Secondly - I am actually not convinced that Haas was offside from the quick tap when Walsh was away.

Have to say though, the Storm's first try was horrible defence. No-one was lined up between the sticks.

I'm done with the NRL and am going to find another sport to watch.
I might watch if we make it to the premiership but other than that, this is not the game I loved growing up.

Between Hughes unpunished shoulder to the back and Patty's sin binning, I'm done.
I am tired of contentious calls every single week dictating games.

Even when you win, there is questionable calls in the game that either diminish your victory or compound your loss and I'm over it.

I switched the game off after Carrigan got binned, and wont watch one second more of this shitshow people call rugby league these days.

Get fucked Vlandys, get fucked NRL.
Sadly I feel the same. Its no longer the players on the field that determines the result of games, its the Spiv, Annersley, Ref's and Bunker. The NRL is corrupt from top to bottom and I just wish that clubs would tell the NRL to get fucked and form some breakaway league with the rules of the game reverted back to how the used to be.

If someone had a crack at a Super League v2.0 now and did it properly, I firmly believe the NRL would be dead within a few years.

I just liked how he talked about us wanting to play football but weren't allowed to (he didnt say weren't allowed to, but that was implied)... like we've been doing all year.

and that tonight's game wasnt football..

And then the backhanded compliment of "good luck to them".

All referencing that playing the storm is a fucking shit show if the ref has no balls ... manly stooped down to their level a couple weeks back and dived more than them to get the win.

I wouldve liked it if Kevvie said something like if that's how they want football to look then I'll have to start coaching it like that... but he went back to us wanting to play our type of football ie. Free flowing and nice on the eye... rather than that absolute shit show the ginger flog pulled together last night

I wonder what Bellamy's record would look like without their 14th man. Would the media froth over his perfect round 1 record? The NRL knows the Storm are still struggling in Melbourne's crowded sports market and must be happy when they pull off these amazing wins on the back of three bins.

I’d still rather cop a wrong call from two referees that had to make a call on the fly then copping one off the bunker who has time to break down an analyse a situation and still manage **** it up
