POST GAME [Round 11, 2024] Broncos vs Sea Eagles

Really not sure what more some of you wanted to see from Mozer. He came on when we didn't have a lot of the momentum and the forwards were tired and did his job. Made no errors, threw crisp passes from dummy half (except for one wild one), defended relentlessly and even helped for two errors. Think people are forgetting what a tough position hooker is, especially for a guy who is 20 in his second game of NRL. Remember how average, even bad, Walters and Smoothy look originally? Give him time, he will develop into a great hooker.
Stop talking sense. 👍

Yeah I guess the expectations are too high. "Smith clone" and whatnot. Smith was a regular first grader by now but i guess Paix was once called a "cronk clone" and Niu "the brightest QLD prospect in decades".

He kinda just looked like Andrew Mcullough out there. A serviceable average hooker who never even looks like he wants to run the football.

I think it was 1910 who said it took him some time to find his feet running the ball in Q Cup, the running game will come with more time in the middle at the NRL level. To me it is clear that Mozer has an innate ability to bring is his forwards on to the ball in a way that McCullough never could.

saw absolutely none of that. I did see some deception out of dummy half but he threw mostly one out passes and we were far more dominant in the middle with smoothy on the field.

"Nah I never played fullback growing up (giggle)".

"I played at lock though. Like in the middle. But they made me play it behind the line so I could catch the kicks and have room to run, and they kept making me wear the number 1 jersey, I think because I was like, the number one best try scorer on my teams. But nah I never played fullback".
What’s a Fullback??🤣🤣

I mean, that could possibly have been because Payne Haas was on when Smoothy was on...

The more experience Mozer gets, the better he will get. Players in the middle generally take time to mature at this level, just look at what happened with Carrigan.

yeah I guess just shows how full of shit the media are. All the hype has the fans convinced but ive really seen nothing from him that warrants selection in a first grade side yet. Hope i'm wrong. Looks to be at least 2-3 years away from being a regular starter. I think we should lock up smoothy for now.

Great win. Can obviously get better but with our injury toll, we'll take the win where we can get them. Solid debut for Karapani. He got found out a few times in the last 15, but couldn't ask for much more from him being called up last minute.

Superstar performance from Cobbo at the back. I don't think he has the fitness to go all out for 80mins right now, but to be fair, neither does Walshy, but he just seems to get a random burst of energy whenever the ball.

I thought Madden looked solid. Mam looked like he was primed for a big one, then it looked like his leg injury flared up again and he just became a passenger. If he was healthy, there's no way Garrick gasses him down the sideline like that. Mam is arguably top 5 over 40m because his acceleration is ridiculous.

One major concern I have is Piakura's defence. He gets solid contact on north-south runners, but any hint of footwork and the bloke whiffs on his tackles. I hope he tightens up his defence

Think next year will be his breakout year, just needs some consistent minutes and probably to start.

Mozer will be a great hooker in the NRL, just hope it is with us.

Good experience for Mozer. Didn't do anything special out there, but it's important to slowly get him acclimated to first grade speed and physicality. Once he's more comfortable, then I have no doubt we'll see him play his hand more. Nice pass on him

Mozer had as good a game as any realistic fan would expect a guy to have playing their 2nd game in that position in the NRL, it takes time, we don’t see many fun hookers just come out hitting their straps in their rookie years, having a hard time thinking of any myself.

The problem is that we’ve been fed all the headlines from News Limited about how good he is, the Cameron Smith prodigy, all that crap. So naturally, when we see him in the NRL, we expect some sort of masterclass.

I thought he was good, the service was good and he was physical in defense, which I have no doubt is what Kev would have been wanting to see out of him. We as fans who don’t watch QLD Cup have been fed headlines for years about this guy so again, we expected a bit more just based on the hype around him.

This is exactly right. The media have hyped him up like they did paix, niu, dearden etc. It's kids hard to watch him play half a pace slower than the rest of the league.

Re watching the replay. Normally if I do that I think "my bias got in the way, the ref wasn't that bad"....

Not this time. That held penalty against staggs was worse then I originally thought and completely momentum shifting and unnecessary...
