I wouldn't be surprised if Lowrie is a late inclusion for this game. I'm surprised he wasn't named initially. Good chance for Bennett to add experience for this game.

Most interesting for me was the fact that Oates wasn't selected in the starting 13.

Can't see why. As in, why he wasn't named if he's going to play. Two situations make sense for a late entry - a gun returning from injury, or a rookie being sheltered.

As for Oates, you look at that team, and Oates is in the top half of our forwards in terms of experience. As has been said above, he's being used like Thaiday, experience (as it were) off the bench, so we don't have 4 rookie forwards on at the same time.

We will really miss McGuire and Parker for their work rate especially defence, and Gillett for his right side defence since we don't use his skills in attack much if at all.

It's the middle - the middle 3rd where this will be won or lost. I mean really, our spine is pretty much intact - Kahu for mine is a very strong replacement for Boyd who has only played twice, and our 1 - 11 are the same + Oates and Kodi.

As for Hodges, well, he can be gold or lead these days. I hope Copley really steps up.

That middle ... that's what this game is all about for me

yeah 6 is worrying but such a small sample size doesnt always tell a story. was he trying to make up for defensive errors by players either side of him? etc etc. i have no idea, just suggesting.

it annoys me when players like dugan/etc are just crabbing across field and defensive line is just holding itself steady, player puts a nothing fend on defender and keeps crabbing, that it counts as a missed tackle.

Cheers. I assumed Wynnum but for some reason have never seen his name on a team sheet.

Heard he hadn't been playing huge minutes though, which is a bit of a worry if we're expecting 40+ tackles.

I read that Mal is giving Slater until Saturday to prove his fitness.

Plenty of time for Gagai to get back with his teammates to prepare.
