Because he's working with a squad that's included these players all season. He's seen them on the same field drilling with/against each other. He's seen their strengths and weaknesses in training, seen what progress they've made, and is only beginning to profile them. Testing them with gametime is the next phase.

Looks to me like he's continuously shuffling the deck setting the table for next year. Half this lot is going to hit the open market. He needs to know who's worth retaining, and where he's weakest. Next phase will be trying out the development and more train/trial players.

So far the result is he's written off Milford, Croft and Dearden. Niu and Paix aren't looking too flash either. That's a result.

Give this phase a few more weeks and he'll settle on the side he thinks can win enough games to keep his job.
To be entirely fair, he's probably got Niu and Paix exactly where they belong doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing at this point in their careers.

Realistically Kevvie is only really changing the halves, but absolutely no one has taken ownership of either position to warrant ongoing selection.

Fullback, hooker, forwards and majority of the outside back positions have been reasonably consistent over the year with changes happening due to injuries and suspension.

There's been some chopping and changing with right center (Niu, Mead and now Arthars), but that might be a placeholder until Staggs returns, unless he goes to 6... and the left wing (Mead, Oates and now back to Mead).

TPJ has now settled on a role and position at right second row, whereas he's been chopped and changed around seemingly every year he's been here.

Basically the only position that isn't being sorted out is the 6 and 7... arguably the most important positions on the field... but we've had inconsistency in the halves ever since BHunt signed with the dragons at the start of 2017.

I think lock is a little up on the air as well, but that's due to Carrigan's injury rather than chopping and changing.

Yep all fair and valid points. The chopping and changing of the halves though is a concern because it affects everyone else in the team. Don't get me wrong, I totally understand Kevvie doing it for the first four or five rounds but we are now in round 11. Why not just leave Milf there until Staggs is fit? We all know Milf is gone and so I get giving Kelly a go but he hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire in Q Cup. It seems to just be change for change sake but it has the potential to throw off already shaky structures. And as for Mead and Oates, realistically neither of them will be at the club next year, so why bother chopping and changing? If we are going that route, why not just give 'Milford' or even Tass a go there?

It’s our defence, it hasn’t improved at all in fact I feel it’s worse, that’s what I’m seriously concerned about.
Cant agree with that... I think Kevvie has improved the mentality and attitude which has improved the desire in defence... is it still shit? Yes.... but defence under Seibold was dreadful in 2020 (post covid break) and extremely poor in 2019 as well.

Points conceded:
- 2021 round 10: 290 against
- 2020 round 12: 334 against (29pts from first 2 rounds removed)
- 2019 round 10: 205 against (9th in the league).... 11th in NRL by the end of the season

So Seibold had us dead last by a fucking long way in 2020 and in the bottom 6 in 2019 prior to the 6 again era.

We ended up being 120 points worse than 15th place last year.... that is a fucking horrendous base that Kevvie is starting from

This point isn't bought up nearly enough. We didn't just run last, we produced one of the most catastrophic seasons in recent memory. We're talking late 90's Western Suburbs bad.

To me he looked like a more polished Milford... or at least one that knew his role and was actively and competently completing it on the field every week.
Not sure about more polished but they share a taste in dining out:

????
I mentioned he was going well, what's the issue?
Going well? He's been close to our best, if not THE best player this year.

I know you're enamoured with Isaako and especially Kennedy, who to their credit are doing a decent job this year too, but TPJ is heads and shoulders above them for and just about anyone else in our squad this year.

There is still plenty of time for us to be the worst defensive team again. Don't you worry about that.

I honestly have 0 Faith in Kevvie, he was arguably the worst ever QLD Coach and tbh I think he will go down in the same ilk as Ivan Henjak and Anthony Seibold for us. The guy is a babboon to be completely honest. He only got the job becasue he had to fail for the next coach to be given a real chance.

Fair enough I suppose but going well is only one rung below going fantastic. It's hardly derogatory and I didn't say Isaako or Kennedy were going fantastic and TPJ 'only' going well. I think you're just looking for something to be offended by. Mountain out of molehill type stuff. TPJ is going the best out of everyone and I'm not saying he isn't. 🙄

Most negative poster in bhq history. Baboon? With double bb's ???
Dumbb, dumbb, dumbb.

I just don't think records count for shit in this V'landys speed ball horseshit that isn't even rugby league anymore.

I've stopped counting.

we just need to put up with him a little longer ... because once we start winning regularly again, he'll pull his usual disappearing act. he only likes to be around here during the bad times

That's kind of weird. What sort of person wallows in misery?

How do you have faith though? He chops and changes our spine every week, he makes Turpin captain and then hooks him after 30 minutes for Dani levi who has been useless. He signs Asiata and doesn't play him.

He has no idea what he is doing.

That's one way of looking at it, and yes, it seems to be Kevvie's way. But at what cost? A "few more weeks" ? Few is 2. I'm happy with that under the circumstances. I guess what I am saying is that I have some concerns given our position on the table at Rd 10, given whom we have beaten, and the way the better teams have flogged us, then, it might be very much the case that the trade off for Kevvie's experiments result in a consecutive spoon.

I'm not sure I like that.
