@BroncsFan I've been thinking the same, that game was probably pretty disastrous for our top 4 hopes. Can't see Sharks/Storm/Panthers/Roosters dropping too many games.

all of those teams have been as up and down as us ...

Sharks have had one of the easiest draws in the comp ... they've lost to the Tigers and just had 40 put on them by the Panthers

The Roosters have the same win/loss ratio as us

The Panther lost only last week to the 13th ranked team

etc

To all those cocky bigheads that were spouting last week about 'We will smash the Titans' and 'Broncos only need to turn up' I will put today's loss down to you. Maybe you will learn a lesson ....but I doubt it.
Very disappointing game .....the players thought they had it in the bag.... just like on Grand Final day. So tired of the inconsistency. Individual players did well but as a team, we failed.
I would have easily Scott minto’d that match winning try that Oates couldn’t.

I’m still in mourning. We looked so tired and lacked any real zip. That Manly game took so much out of us.

We luckily will improve with Staggs , Reyno and Arthur’s coming back into the side. We need the rest and we need some stability in the backline to get our defence right.

Saw the last 15 mins and just watched the highlights. That defence was putrid especially for the Fermor and Clark tries.
Willison needs to stay down after the hit to the chops - it's a sure fire penalty.
I hope Kevie gave them a revving for that performance and they can find some of the defensive resolve and effort from 2023.
Melbourne and Titans, 4 points absolutely down the drain.

The more you reflect on this game the worse it will get. Absolutely no excuses at all for us. I think my expectations of what this team can do this year have been tempered quite a bit by our defensive efforts in most of our games.

I agree. We’re capable of so much more but we have to work on a few things if we’re going to challenge.
My expectations have dropped but I still see a top 4 finish.

I think some of us are being a bit hard on second gamer Karp. Sure he had a few shocking moments but so did his team. Cobbo had to be moved to cover Staggs and mark Fifita. If we had moved the Karp over their against Fifita it could’ve got even uglier.

Billys dropped ball, his weak 40/20 effort and that disgraceful attempt to tackle 15 meters from our line and then making it worse by not locking up the ball carrying arm has confirmed his season lowlights just keep getting worse.

Its not like it’s a one off game, he’s been way below last years form since Vegas.

What Paddy and Haas were playing at was just unexplainibl.e. I’m sure Peeks got injured again and correct me if I’m wrong but he never came back once he went off.

To win five of our last six before this game was a mighty effort considering our injuries and the opposition we faced. Yesterday was just a day too far. Perhaps the daytime footy really does disorientate a largely night time footy team.

Half Walsh’s problem is that he looks like he did at the Warriors - like he feels pressure to be a ‘playmaker’, and create opportunities for those around him with his passes and kicks. He’s one of the most devastating ball runners in the game, and yesterday he had 4 total runs (the first of which was a line break). He needs to focus on running the ball and taking on the line first and foremost and let the rest come.

The second problem is last year Walsh was attacking a staggered, retreating defensive line that our forwards were bending and rolling through up the middle. Instead, this year we are getting physically dominated in the middle, we are producing no go forward and momentum and so everything Walsh does isn’t playing through the line, but trying to stretch and go around it. He runs out of space drifting sideways trying to create gaps in a set defensive line and forces stupid passes. If the forwards get rolling again, we will see Walsh back at his best, I’m positive of it.

Someone here mentioned that Piakura was hooked for missing a bunch of tackles in quick succession. Whether that was due to fatigue or or injury I'm not sure.

Yeah he came off straight after he took a nap on the titans player to give away the penalty... Billy came off at the same time most likely due to his cold drop 5m from the try line straight after halftime

So...how long should Billy be given to turn this around? I am sure this would probably open up to the usual suspects going to town with told ya so's which will make no sense given how good he was last year but this year, as mentioned above, he has been WAY down. I know he is injured but if he can't maintain the level as a result of it, he shouldn't be playing. How long does Kevvie give him?

I mentioned this yesterday, it has the potential to be a real problem going forward. We have a potential young gun waiting in the wings, if we lose him because daddy is the coach, well that will open a can of worms.

We won’t win anything with this hooker situation, again our one position we can never sort.

Billy played out of his mind last year left nothing on the field and now he looks like he can recreate that effort level.

I imagine as a hooker, having a very painful wrist injury would be one of the worst injuries to try and play through given you pick up the ball almost every play and are constantly tackling. I get it too, Billy must be worried about said young gun taking his opportunity with both hands and not getting his spot back but this is where his dead probably needs to step in and pull him out like he has done with Kotoni.

Problem is even in those games you could see something like this coming.

The Eels game for example. If they had Moses and Gutho, we don't win. In fact, they blow us away. We don't control the ruck, we don't move up in defence to give our opposition as little time as possible and we don't wrap up the ball.

We are going to get killed if we don't change that.
