PRE-GAME Round 12 - Broncos vs Eels

Will be interesting maybe Kahu will slot into Opacics spot at centre.

I'd probably still have Kahu just slotting in on his usual wing when he's ready. Isaako inpressed but we really need to improve our defence there.

There’s no way Isaako loses his spot. Why are we pretending that Kahu is some amazing defender?

Isaako doesn't know how to stay on his wing he always comes in, how would Isaako go at centre?

Kahu is a very good defender. And his kick defusals are among the best. His defensive positioning and tackling technique are excellent. Isaako deserves his spot and so does kahu. It’s a good dilemma to have. But WB will put Kahu in left centre because he’s obviously not been perfectly happy with that position judging by how much it’s been changed around.

I think its only been changed around so much to accommodate Jack Bird.

He is a good defender.... On the wing. His defence in the centres is, has and will always be a liability.

If Kahu is fit, I wonder whether Bennett will shift Oates to the forwards, thus allowing Kahu and Isaako on the wings with Roberts and Oppa/Staggs in centre. Especially with Sims now injured and all our other forward injuries, Oates may actually be required in the forwards for depth anyway

1. Jamayne Isaako
2. Corey Oates
3. Darius Boyd
4. Kotoni Staggs
5. James Roberts
6. Anthony Milford
7. Kodi Nikorima
8. Matthew Lodge
9. Andrew McCullough
10. Joe Ofahengaue
11. Tevita Pangai Junior
12. Jack Bird
13. Josh McGuire

Roberts on the wing... is that you Wayne? Putting your son to centre and moving Roberts, leagues best centre, to the wing

There's no better opportunity to do so.

If Oates isn't named in the backrow tomorrow afternoon, he's never moving there at the Broncos. We're missing Glenn, Gillett & Sims who've all played on edges this season, and we've got enough outside backs at the moment to cover the move.

Hypothetically, if it were to happen, this would presumably be the team -

1. Boyd
2. Kahu
3. Roberts
4. Opacic
5. Isaako
6. Milford
7. Nikorima
8. Lodge
9. McCullough
10. Thaiday
11. Oates
12. Su'A
13. Pangai Jr

14. Murphy
15. Ofahengaue
16. Staggs
17. Tagatese

Mccullough has a 150 game plus combination with the lilely halfback (hunt), amd plays 80 minutes and has been in better form this year. In fact for every year bar possibly 1 year he has been. Every good judge also thinks it will be mccullough. Ive only heard 2 terrible judges in gasnier and tallis say different names (they said dce or hunt so even they couldnt pretend granville was a better option)).
I get there is a strong anti-mccullough theme in broncos-hq but the support he is getting from every single person who is in a position to warrant listening too surely puts to bed this notion that mccullough is below average. He is a great hooker, he isnt cameron smith of course but he is a great hooker...
All it really shows is that QLD have absolute **** all good hookers. If Macca is not only the best, but "clearly" the best, then damn are QLD poor in the no.9 position.

Macca is the absolute definition of average, maybe very slightly above that, but that's it.
He's played about 200 games now, can you recall a single clutch moment of his to win us a game? I can recall a few he's blown...

He's a tackle machine, big deal. He has a nice kicking game, but will go a month without putting boot to ball in games, so meh. Rarely sets up trys, scores a few per year.

I understand some people almost seem to get offended that Macca is called average, but that is seriously all that he is.

He had a good game and scored an amazing try but let's not get carried away with Roberts. He has a definite deficiency as a defender. His attack more than makes up for it, but doesn't mean he is the finished product.
That said I wouldn't be moving him either for the simple reason that the only way to improve in a position is to play there. He only becomes a better defender in the centres by defending as a centre.

Centre is a hard position to defend at. Especially if niko is on your inside. But you're right, Roberts has room to improve which is a good thing.

Fifita came on just before half time when Allan got hurt. He ended up with 43 minutes which is pretty big for first game. Missed four tackles but it was a 42-30 score.

He got involved but stayed out on the right a bit too. 17 hit ups. He handled it.

I'll be pretty dissapointed if Staggs doesn't start. Big believer in players keeping the shirt of they earn it through performance.

If Bird or Opacic are unavailable, then he will start. Otherwise he might get a bench spot.

He should start.

But I just can't see Bennett changing his ways if Bird or Opacic are available.
